Ford Ranger is the best-selling truck so far in 2020
Posted on July 16, 2020
Even though we are just over halfway through the year, the 2020 Ford Ranger is already winning it. The new Ford truck has increased sales so far this year in both the US and Canada, making it the best-selling truck in Ford’s stable.
Ford Ranger sales in Canada increased 39% from 1,635 to 2,267 so far this year. Sales in the US increased over 20% to 25,008 units in the first half of 2020 too. That gave the Ranger a 27% market share in the midsize truck market, way ahead of the Chevrolet Colorado and Jeep Gladiator.
More sales figures are available here.
A combination of good availability despite COVID-19 and the fact the Ranger is a newer, better truck than rivals has been credited with its success.
That’s great news for what is the best looking midsize truck currently on the market!
2020 Ford Ranger
The 2020 Ford Ranger is what a midsize truck should be. A sensible size, easy to handle, well-designed, a fantastic drive and not some caricature of a social group who like to drive big trucks around town.
The Ranger is a great design that has taken a lot from modern Ford vehicles and added its own spin. It looks and feels different than an F-150 and that works to its benefit. It’s smaller, more agile and easier to manoeuvre around the city.
The front end is very modern and includes a nice grille, angled lights and a fluted hood. Modest fender arches and low overhangs hint at off road ability while a simple design delivers a utilitarian but still attractive profile.
Inside, the Ranger can seat up to five adults in comfort. Front seats are supportive, adjustable and comfortable while the interior build quality is up there with other Ford vehicles. The materials are tough and robust rather than soft and luxurious but you definitely won’t feel short changed.
Under the hood
Under the hood of the 2020 Ford Ranger is a 2.3-litre turbocharged four cylinder engine. It delivers 270 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque. It uses Ford’s 10 speed automatic transmission to send power to the rear wheels with optional AWD. The all-wheel drive system is part time and designed for the rough stuff, not full time driving.
The truck can tow up to 7,500 pounds and carry significant loads in the truck bed.
The Ranger comes in XL, XLT, and Lariat trims with a huge list of options. The base XL is a work truck but still comes with USB, Bluetooth, power accessories, air conditioning and automatic emergency braking. Step up a trim or two for leather, keyless entry and the usual Ford accoutrements.
The Ranger is a best seller for good reason. It’s a great truck. Visit Northway Ford Lincoln, 388 King George Road Brantford ON N3S 3N2 to see for yourself.
