Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 and GT350R Heritage Edition

Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 and GT350R Heritage Edition

As if there weren’t enough reasons to want a Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 or GT350R, the automaker has recently announced a Heritage Edition for both cars. Ford has revealed the new special edition will have the same colour scheme as the original from 1965 among other visual treats.

The Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 and GT350R Heritage Edition will feature Wimbledon White paint with Guardsman Blue stripes or a more modern blue and white colour scheme. Inside, the interior will feature black upholstery with red access stitching throughout.

There are no mechanical upgrades or features for this special edition. It’s all about the appearance. Given that these are the GT350 and GT350R, you don’t really need any more power or handling!

The intent with this special edition is to celebrate what the original car did for Ford and to celebrate Jim Owens who drove the GT40 to victory at Le Mans in the epic battle between the Blue Oval and Ferrari. As Owens also drove the original Mustang back in ’65, this edition is fitting.

"Looking back on it, what Ford and Carroll Shelby created back in the mid-'60s was so important to Mustang," says Ford Mustang marketing manager Jim Owens. "With their authentic exterior livery, unique appointments and performance Ken could have only dreamed of, the Mustang Shelby GT350 and GT350R Heritage Edition Package vehicles are a meaningful tribute to the legacy of the Shelby brand."

2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350

The Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 is a wolf in wolf’s clothing. It looks like a street-legal race car and drives like one. It looks fast and is fast. Yet it’s also a comfortable, well-mannered car that has many of the stock Mustang comforts, along with the speed and agility of a race car.

Thanks to some suspension and steering upgrades added in the 2020 model, this car now handles better on the road than ever before. It can still smash it on the track but won’t break your spine on the road either.

The 5.2-litre V8 engine generates 527 hp and 429 lb-ft of torque. It uses a 6 speed manual transmission to send power to the rear wheels. Even with all that power and in Sport driving mode, the driving experience can still be refined and composed, until you put your foot down. Then it reminds you that’s it’s a thoroughbred race car.

The 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 isn’t for everybody but if you want to combine racing pedigree and potential alongside a car that could genuinely be your daily driver, this car is it. Learn more about it at Northway Ford Lincoln, 388 King George Road Brantford ON N3S 3N2.
