Ford Mustang Mach-E wins 2021 Green Car of The Year

Ford Mustang Mach-E wins 2021 Green Car of The Year

Even though the Ford Mustang Mach-E hasn’t even landed in dealerships yet, it is already gathering awards. The latest of which is the 2021 Green Car of The Year award.

The Ford Mustang Mach-E was awarded 2021 Green Car of The Year by the Green Car Journal in the US. The publication is an influential one that has spent years covering alternative fuels, hybrids, electrification and other green motoring subjects.

“Rising to the top of the field is Green Car Journal’s 2021 Green Car of the Year, Ford’s all-new Mustang Mach-E, a model that boasts an instantly-recognizable name and heritage, while breaking new ground as an all-electric crossover featuring up to 300 miles of range.

“Performance is part of the package, as is unmistakable style and all the latest advanced electronics.”

The winner was selected from a shortlist that included the Ford Escape, Kia Soul, Hyundai Sonata, Toyota Rav4, Honda CR-V, Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid, Mazda3 and the Toyota Corolla.

2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E

The 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E has a lot to live up to. It’s Ford’s first brand new electric vehicle that isn’t a version of something that has gone before. The company has put a lot of faith and money into getting the recipe right and a lot will depend on its success.

We think it’s a sure fire hit in waiting.

The design is thoroughly modern with a hint of Mustang up front. I may not agree with the naming, but there is no denying the intent of that front end. The large grille area, Mustang-like lights, fluted hood and steeply raked windshield give a fantastic first impression.

That first impression carries over to the inside too. Despite the low roof, there is a surprising amount of space in the cabin. Materials have been carefully chosen and finished to a high standard, there are nice touches everywhere and more technology than ever before up front.

Under the hood

The 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E uses an all-electric setup with a pair of electric motors and one of two sets of batteries that offer up to 300 miles of range.

Premium and First Edition models are AWD and are said to have a range of up to 270 miles with the equivalent of 333 hp. The California Route 1 and Premium extended-range models are RWD and have up to 300 miles and the equivalent of 282 hp.

The Mach-E GT is thought to have around 235 miles of range and the equivalent of 459 hp but details haven’t been officially released yet.

Charging depends on the input but is thought to be capable of rapid recharging from 10-80% in just under 40 minutes using a DC fast-charging station.

We cannot wait for the arrival of the 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E. Visit Northway Ford Lincoln, 388 King George Road Brantford ON N3S 3N2 if you want to learn more about it.
