Ford Mustang Hybrid Release Date in Canada

Ford Mustang Hybrid Release Date in Canada

We knew it was coming, just not when. Now we do. The Ford Mustang Hybrid will be with us in 2025. That seems like a long time away but that’s the date Ford has given dealers.

Better late than never I guess, but still.

The Ford Mustang Hybrid was originally due by 2020 alongside the F-150 hybrid. The truck arrived but the Mustang didn’t and all talk around it stopped.

Thanks to changes in buyer behaviour and expectations, and probably governments banning the sake of new ICE engines, Ford has picked up the program again.

They are still making us wait though.

Ford is also making us wait for any details. Aside from the confirmation made at a dealer conference in the US and promptly leaked, we know nothing else about it.

2021 Ford Mustang

The 2021 Ford Mustang is a great car. Few other models have the same brand cache or heritage and still manage to carry it off with modern sensibilities.

The design is exceptional. It combines the years of history the Mustang has along with new design features and an accessible appeal that crosses the typical car segments.

It’s long, low and has an aggressive front end. Angled lights, a sloped hood and wide stance tells you this car means business. Things calm down in profile with modest detailing, a raked windshield and a curved roof.

A tidy rear with those signature vertical lights and pony badge completes the look.

Inside, the Mustang is a nice place to be. The front seats in particular are comfortable and quite adjustable. The driving position is supported and well designed with all switches and controls within easy reach.

Rear seat passengers don’t have the most head or legroom in the world but it can seat all the family if required.

Under the hood

Under the hood is where the real interest lies. The non-Shelby models can have a 2.3-litre turbocharged four cylinder that delivers 310 hp and 350 lb-ft of torque or a 5.0-litre V8 that delivers 460 hp and 420 lb-ft of torque.

Both use a 10 speed automatic or 6 speed manual and Ford’s active exhaust.

The suspension is firm but responsive. It’s a great balance between road holding and plushness that sees you able to corner at speed while remaining upright but not rattling your fillings out when driving over rough surfaces.

It’s an excellent balance that Ford gets just right.

The 2021 Ford Mustang brings automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and automatic high-beam headlights as standard. You can have blind-spot monitors and active lane control too if you like.

There are several trims, EcoBoost, EcoBoost Premium, GT, GT Premium, Mach 1 and GT350/500 trims. All provide an excellent experience with increasingly exciting rides depending on how heavy your foot is.

If you’re looking for a car to have fun in while still being able to do the school run, the Mustang is one of the few cars that can do it.

Check out the 2021 Ford Mustang at Northway Ford Lincoln, 388 King George Road Brantford ON N3S 3N2.
