Ford CEO Hints at a New Electric Ford Truck: What we Know

Ford are allegedly working on a new electric truck that’s not the F-150 Lightning. In news that will surprise nobody, the automaker is hoping to build on the popularity of the Lightning with another model for the range.

Automotive News said Ford CEO Jim Farley hinted at a new truck that will be built at the brand new Blue Oval City campus in Tennessee.

He said the truck will be a new truck with a new name and not based on the F-150. While that leaves other truck chassis, we have hope that it will be something completely new.

The truck is one of a number of new electric vehicles Ford is planning to unleash on us over the next few years.

Given the rate at which other automakers are releasing EVs, it’s no surprise that huge effort, and investment, is being levelled at new vehicle development.

The fact Ford is planning something new rather than just giving us an electrified Bronco or Maverick is telling.

It tells us that Ford are confident enough in demand to invest in a brand new model to supplement their existing lineup.

Hints are that this new mystery truck will arrive sometime in 2025.

Ford F-150 Lightning

The Ford F-150 Lightning was quite the gamble. Electrifying Ford’s best seller and the best-selling truck in north America was a risk. But one that has paid off.

It looks like a standard F-150 except for the rounder edges and fewer trim elements.

The light bar looks great along the top of the grille and the overall look is polished and updated. I would go as far as to say I prefer this design to the standard truck.

All trucks come with a pair of electric motors, one on each axle for AWD.

There are two battery packs, a Standard Range with 98.0-kWh battery, 452 hp and up to 230 miles of range and the Extended Range with 131.0-kWh battery, up to 560 hp and up to 320 miles of range.

Charging can be undertaken using 110v, 220v and fast charging stations and can deliver from 15% up to 80% charge in just 44 minutes.

The Ford F-150 Lightning comes with automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist and adaptive cruise control with hands-free driving mode.

Trucks range from the basic Pro model all the way up to the XLT model that includes most features you’re every likely to need.

All can carry, haul and tow just like the standard F-150 with zero compromise.
