FCA to retire Chrysler 300 in 2020

640 × 480
We knew that the clock was ticking for the Chrysler 300 but we didn’t know the end was quite so nigh. Apparently FCA have leaked plans to end the big Chrysler in 2020. This is unconfirmed though so is subject to correction or change but it fits with what we know about FCA’s plans.

There are also rumours that the automaker will be introducing the Portal electric minivan in the same year. That would mean that the company would have the Pacifica, the Portal and not a lot else until they come up with more models. That’s a curious position to put yourself in.

I will be sad to see the end of the Chrysler 300. The steady evolution from stocky mob car to sumptuous sedan has been slow and steady but has always delivered a solid car. I for one will miss it.

2018 Chrysler 300
The 2018 Chrysler 300 is a full size sedan that has always delivered a comfortable, assured ride. The cabins are quiet and spacious and the sedan can be configured just how you like it. With great engines and composed suspension, it drives very well too.

The design has softened in this last version. It is still stocky but now has rounder edges. Simple panel designs let the shape speak for itself and the dimensions ensure you are always noticed whenever you’re on the road.

The cabin is light and spacious with generous head and legroom in front and adequate space in back. Materials quality and finishing has improved massively and technology is there but understated. Overall, the cabin of a Chrysler 300 is a nice place to be whether you’re driving it or being driven.

Under the hood is either a 3.6-litre V6 that produces 292 hp or 300 hp in the 300S or a 5.7-litre V8 that produces 363 hp and 394 lb-ft of torque. They send power to the rear or all wheels via an 8 speed automatic transmission.
The Chrysler 300 comes well specified as stock with alloy wheels, touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, electric accessories and lots of storage. You can add leather interior, keyless entry, upgraded audio, cooled front seats and a whole lot more if you want to.

The sedan also comes with a driver knee airbag and rearview camera. It can be specified with forward-collision warnings with automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, active lane control, adaptive cruise control and automatic high beams should you wish too.

I will be sorry to see the Chrysler 300 go. It has been a regular here at Car Nation Canada for the longest time. If you like the look of this substantial sedan, visit Unique Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, 915 Walkers Line, Burlington, ON  L7N 3V8 to snap one up before it disappears forever!
