Dodge teasing new 2019 Charger

Dodge teasing new 2019 Charger

640 × 339
The 2019 Dodge Charger has been teased in an image and it looks good. Admittedly, the image only shows the Hellcat grille, but it is enough to get conversations started. You may remember I talked about another change last week, the dual snorkel hood. It seems Dodge isn’t done with teasing us.

The 2019 Dodge Charger will join an updated Challenger in bringing some modest improvements while the automaker works on a completely new design. As the expected date for those redesigns are in 2021 at the earliest, I’m hoping these updates are good ones.

The image above shows a slimmer grille and a meaner looking front fascia. If such a thing were possible. It also clearly shows the SRT badge. There is what looks like an air intake between the badge and headlight, presumably to make up for less airflow through the slimmer grille. You can’t see whether there is a corresponding intake on the other side.

Along with the new hood, this front fascia and grille do look good. I imagine there will be more updates coming between now and release. I’ll keep you updated when they appear.

2018 Dodge Charger
The 2018 Dodge Charger has always been a no-nonsense kind of car. It’s about the power and the driving experience rather than soft touch materials and luxury. About the roar of the V8 and the kick in the back than the latest technology or comfort features.

That said, there are few other cars that can switch so effortlessly between being a daily driver and drag strip hero.

The design is still very much muscle car with a heritage bias. The combination of modernity and history in the design is one to be commended. The interior is nicely done and well put together and will include new technologies. Unlike other cars, the big Dodge doesn’t use them as its selling point.

Instead, it uses the 3.6-litre V6, the 5.7-litre Hemi or the 6.4-litre Hellcat to do the talking. Combined with a very slick eight speed automatic transmission, each of these engines has no problem making themselves heard.

It isn’t all about raw power though. The 2018 Dodge Charger actually offers a very composed ride. The suspension is nicely tuned and can cope with a range of surfaces, cornering isn’t too bad and comfort is generous throughout.

You could go on a road trip, hit the drag strip or do the school run and the Charger would be great in each situation. That’s how versatile it is!
