Dodge pausing Hellcat production

Dodge pausing Hellcat production

Dodge has announced they are pausing Hellcat production
because they cannot keep up with demand. Orders for Challenger SRT Hellcat and
Charger SRT Hellcat are currently not being taken while the factory catches up
with the sheer number of orders.

It's a nice position to be in as an automaker in one way.
Having so many people wanting what you're selling is an excellent validation of
your product. On the other hand, nobody likes waiting and with so much
competition around, some orders are bound to be lost. We don't expect many will
look elsewhere though considering just how good that Hellcat engine is!

The official statement released by FCA U.S. says, “Due to
unprecedented demand for the 2015 Dodge Charger and Challenger SRT Hellcats, we
are temporarily restricting orders while we validate current orders that are in
the system."

When the Hellcat models were released last September, FCA
received over 4,500 orders within the first five minutes. Since then, over
9,000 orders have been received for the two cars.

While FCA had no idea that demand would be so high, some are
laying blame on US dealerships who were taking orders and non-refundable
deposits on cars they knew would take months to deliver. Even though orders
have been suspended, some dealerships in the States are still accepting orders.

Challenger SRT Hellcat and Charger SRT Hellcat

The Challenger SRT Hellcat is almost a brand new car. With
revised looks, upgraded interiors, a new eight-speed transmission and that
Hellcat engine, there's nothing here not to love.

It's a big beast, but no bigger than Challengers of old.
Despite its size and power, it has great road manners and a nice ride. Inside,
the new touchscreen is a hit, as re the upgraded materials and comfortable

The Charger SRT Hellcat also received significant updates
for the current model year. The external changes are significant, much more
modern and appealing yet it keeps the Charger look. Inside is much the same. A
better interior, more high quality materials and a nicer cabin is the least you
can expect.

The Charger also gets the new eight-speed transmission and
the same Hellcat motor as the Challenger.

That engines is of course the Hellcat. The supercharged 6.2-litre
V8 motor generates an astonishing 707 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque. It sounds
fantastic, looks amazing and generates an awesome driving experience. No wonder
it's so popular!
