The Chrysler Pacifica has been a little quiet of late. The minivan has seemed content to dominate its target market and demonstrate its prowess at moving families and cargo around Canada. Chrysler has put an end to that quiet with the Red S Edition.
When I first saw this, I thought it was a Star Wars tie-in. I saw Red 5 and not Red S. Despite my momentary personal disappointment, the Chrysler Pacifica Red S Edition certainly won’t disappoint.
Red S
The Chrysler Pacifica Red S Edition is an appearance package that adds unique black wheels and exterior badging, Rodeo Red Nappa leather seating, Light Diesel Grey stitching, brushed silver interior trim and ‘S’ logos on the rear of each seat. It’s a small addition but it has been specially chosen to enhance the already superior Pacifica. It will be available for the 2020 model year.

Aside from not having an AWD option, the 2019 Chrysler Pacifica is almost perfect for its market. It’s stylish, a real improvement over the Grand Caravan and far and away the best minivan on the market right now. If any vehicle was to prove that buying a minivan doesn’t mean your life is effectively over, the Pacifica is it.
The design is sleek and modern with lots of glass and excellent visibility. It manages to bring something new to the table with a unique design, modern composure, nice wheels and excellent aesthetics. There’s even more try on the inside with comfortable and flexible seating, lots of space, plenty of storage and as many quality of life features you could ever need.
All models use the excellent 3.6-litre V6 engine that produces 287 hp and uses a 9 speed automatic transmission to drive the front wheels. The vehicle is well balanced and drives surprising well given its size.
The 2018 Pacifica was Top Safety Pick and there is no reason to think this model would be different. It comes with blind-spot monitors and rear parking sensors and the option for forward-collision warnings with automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control and a surround-view camera system depending on what trim you choose.
Those trims are the L, LX, Touring Plus, Touring-L, Touring-L Plus and Limited. Even the base L is well appointed with alloy wheels, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, rearview camera, 7 inch touchscreen, blind-spot monitors, and rear parking sensors. Other trims increase the comfort with leather, power side doors, folding seats, USB chargers and a whole lot more.
