Chrysler, Hyundai and Nissan recalls

Chrysler, Hyundai and Nissan recalls

This week, Chrysler, Hyundai and Nissan all issued recalls
for a range of vehicles covering ignition switches, taillights and hood latches.
The recall includes over 700,000 vehicles across all three automakers. None of
the recalls are regarded as serious and none have yet involved any accidents or
injury as far as we can tell.

However, as always, if you own one of the affected vehicles,
book it in for a service at any Car Nation Canada location. We will check any
recall notices as part of the service.

Chrysler Grand Caravan, Town & Country and Journey

Chrysler Grand Caravan, Town & Country and Journey's
manufactured between 2008 and 2010. In this recall, faulty ignitions could
accidentally rotate out of the "run" position. This can result in the
vehicle stalling and being difficult to steer. Vehicle airbags can also be
deactivated, theoretically providing a hazard if involved in a collision.

A total over 703,000 vehicles are included in this recall.

Nissan Altima

Nissan have also issued a recall for the Nissan Altima
manufactured between 2013 and 2015. Potentially faulty hood latches have been
identified that could possibly allow the hood to flip open while the vehicle is
on the move. This has obvious safety implications, so Nissan have pre-empted it
with a recall.

A total of 15,000 Altima sedans will be included in this
recall once it has been issued. Nissan are still working on a fix for this, so
specifics are not yet available.

Hyundai Genesis

Finally, the Hyundai Genesis manufactured in 2015 is going
to be subject to a recall to fix a leaky taillight. The current model year has
apparently faulty seals that allows moisture into the light housing. Not only
does this create fogging within the light itself, it can also short out the
transmission range switch. This controls the gear display on the instrument
panel showing you what gear you're in.

A total of 2,000 Hyundai Genesis will be recalled to fit new
seals around the lights.

As mentioned, if you bring your vehicle to Car Nation Canada
for a service, we automatically check for recall notices as part of the
procedure. Should your vehicle be subject to one, we will notify you and
schedule the fix.
