Chrysler Brand Gets 10 Years To Turn It Around

Chrysler Brand Gets 10 Years To Turn It Around

When FCA and PSA merged to create Stellantis there was a lot of talk about cutting some brands to streamline the new company. One of those thought to be axed was the Chrysler brand. That’s no longer the case, for another decade at least.

Stellantis released a statement giving all brands a 10 year reprieve.

Stellantis boss Carlos Tavares said as much at the Financial Times Future of the Car event.

“We're giving each (brand) a chance, giving each a time window of 10 years and giving funding for 10 years to do a core model strategy. The CEOs need to be clear in brand promise, customers, targets, and brand communications.”

In plain English, that means the bosses of each brand have 10 years to turn things around, release or improve new models and make itself viable before facing the axe.

We imagine that will mean growth for the  Chrysler brand as it only has two models, the Chrysler 300 and the Pacifica. The next few years could be an exciting time for the brand and we cannot wait to see what they come up with!

2021 Chrysler Pacifica

The 2021 Chrysler Pacifica is Chrysler’s people mover. It’s a new vehicle that offers space, comfort and car-like handling while being able to seat the entire family.

We’re big fans of the Pacifica. It turned a boring people hauler into something genuinely interesting and that has to be partly why we see so many of them around.

The design is modern, sleek and still Chrysler. There isn’t a great deal you can do with a minivan profile to make it different but the front end is compelling enough to pique your interest.

Inside, the interior is cavernous and comfortable.

There are three rows with lots of interior space, optional captain’s chairs in the second row and even spacious third row with room in back for groceries.

Stow ‘n Go makes using the van to go to the tip or moving large items a breeze and offers one of the largest cargo areas outside a commercial van.

Engine and drivetrain

The 2021 Chrysler Pacifica uses a 3.6-litre V6 engine that produces 287 hp. It uses a 9 speed automatic to send power to the front or all wheels.

There is also a plug-in hybrid version that uses the same V6 engine alongside an electric motor to give it an all-electric range of up to 32 miles.

I haven’t tried the hybrid but the V6 has plenty enough power to propel a fully laden Pacifica along quite nicely.

The 2021 Chrysler Pacifica has a Top Safety Pick award from the IIHS and a five-star rating from the NHTSA.

It comes standard with automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitors, adaptive cruise control and active lane control. You can opt for a surround view camera too if you like.

The 2021 Chrysler Pacifica is now first choice for people hauling and for good reason. Check it out at Unique Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, 915 Walkers Line, Burlington, ON L7N 3V8.
