The Cheapest New Cars in Canada in 2022
Posted on September 16, 2022
Shopping for a car on a tight budget often means needing to purchase a used vehicle, but we have a list of some of the cheapest new cars in Canada in 2022 that could broaden your search parameters.
Toyota Corolla
With a manual transmission, the base model of the Corolla comes in at $19,450 MSRP. It’s a dependable sedan that has a history of efficiency and easy ownership. Corollas are also known for long lifespans: 10+ years or over 300,000 KMs on average, not bad for something so affordable.
Hyundai Venue
If you’re in the market for a crossover, the Hyundai Venue is the least expensive model on the market in Canada. The manual transmission model comes in at $18,299 MSRP and offers a spacious cabin, a variety of neat colours, and a higher ride height than the other models we’re looking at today.
Kia Forte
It turns out that if you can drive a manual transmission, you can save a lot of money. At $18,295 MSRP, the Kia Forte is a compact sedan that drives like something much more luxurious. The Forte is another vehicle with a long life on a short budget, lasting approximately 300,000 KMs and harboring a reputation of reliability.
Nissan Versa
While the Versa isn’t known for its great fuel economy, the price tag has us hooked anyway. MSRP is $16,898 and gives us a fun little car to zip around in. You won’t be helping anyone move house in this car, but you’ll be able to get to and from work no problem. The life expectancy on a Versa is about 200,000 KMs, so if you want something that’s going to last you to your twilight years, this may not be the one for you.
Chevrolet Spark
The cheapest car on our list, and the smallest, is the Chevrolet Spark. Base price is $10,398, and if you want to get your hands on this adorable (and inexpensive) vehicle you’d better act fast. Unfortunately, the 2022 is the final model Chevrolet will be producing. When maintained properly, this little car will last up to 200,000 KMs.
Remember, all these prices are for base models with standard transmissions. Opting for an automatic will up the price, as it increases the convenience factor. If you know how to drive stick and you can actually find one with a manual transmission, you could be looking at a great deal in one of the cheapest cars in Canada in 2022!
