Any road trip that features the 2017 Jeep Wrangler is going to ignore the tarmac completely. Why drive one of the most capable off road vehicles anywhere in the world and stick to the black stuff? We reached out to Wrangler owners and off road enthusiasts and asked them about the best road trip trails in Ontario. This is what they told us.
Here are what are considered some of the best off road trails for the 2017 Jeep Wrangler.
Concession Lake Trail
One off road trail that featured a lot in feedback was Concession Lake Trail. It is a 13 mile trail located between Galway-Cavendish and Harvey, Ontario. It is a very accessible trail with lots of east sections and relatively few really technical sections. It is easily accessible by road and is a shared use trail but the primary users seem to be 4x4 and dirt bikes.
Bear Skulls Trail
The Bear Skulls Trail is named such because of a pair of bear skulls found at the head of the trail. It is also known as Bear hug and is a short but very technical trail. It includes rocks, steep inclines, squeezes, off camber sections and some very challenging areas. There are also bypasses throughout if you don’t feel up to the challenge.
Ganaraska Oak Ridges Trail
Ganaraska Oak Ridges Trail is only 17.5 miles long but is worth the effort in terms of scenery and experience. It isn’t a difficult trail, with mixed easy to medium terrain and gets busy with a mixture of hikers, bikers and 4x4 drivers. This is fertile ground for the 2017 Jeep Wrangler. Located close to Peterborough and Durham, it isn’t too far out either.
Forgotten Trails
Forgotten Trails by Eagle Lake is 20 km long and of low difficulty. While not a pure off road trail, it has enough to make the trip worthwhile as the scenery alone makes it worth the time and gas. It is regarded as an easy trail, ideal for beginners or those who want to learn how the Wrangler handles before taking on more challenging trails.
California Road Trail
California Road Trail at Darling Ward, near White Lake is another trail not really recognized as a pure off roads trail but is worth driving because of the scenery alone. It’s more a dirt road with a few rough patches than challenging off-roading but still, it gets good feedback from our readers. Some aspects get flooded at times but the rest should be easy.
Those four trails offer a range of challenges for both you and your 2017 Jeep Wrangler. Do you know of any other trails we should try? Tell us about them if you do!
