2023 Ram 3500 Spied

2023 Ram 3500 Spied

The 2023 Ram 3500 has been spied testing in the wild and a couple of sites have images of the big truck.

The current Ram 3500 is a legacy model from 2019 and while it was performing well, it was due a refresh. Especially in the face of increased competition.

The spy shots caught by Motor1 may be the new version of the truck being readied for manufacture.

As you can see from the image (care of Motor1), the truck looks largely the same. There is minimal camouflage so there isn’t left to hide, but this new truck apparently has a couple of tricks up its sleeve.

The first is under that hood camo. It’s thought to be a Ram air scoop ready to deliver air to the engine.

The second is in the side mirrors, the new Ram Magna Clearview technology. It uses cameras with switchable view.

In one view, the mirror is a standard mirror showing the standard views. In the other view, it uses a video camera with adjustable viewpoints.

You’ll be able to adjust the view of the view to include wider views and combine up to 3 camera views within the same mirror. This can be very useful when hauling cargo or towing large loads.

The rest of the truck is largely the same with some minor trim changes, new interior elements and perhaps new instruments.

There are rumours the 2023 Ram 3500 may also include the new Stellantis Hurricane engines. This has yet to be confirmed and may not be at launch, but it is apparently on the cards.

The 2023 Ram 3500 is due sometime this fall.

2022 Ram 3500

The 2022 Ram 3500 is about as solid and reliable as they come. It’s a work truck that can carry, haul, tow and go anywhere you’re ever likely to need to go.

All while keeping you safe and comfortable.

With a reassuring design, solid build quality and some powerful engines, this truck can just keep on going.

There are three engine options available for the 3500. The first is a 6.4-litre V8 that delivers 410 hp and 429 lb-ft of torque. Then there’s the 6.7-litre Cummins diesel with 370 hp and 850 lb-ft. A tweaked version of that engine can deliver 400 hp and 1075 lb-ft of torque.

The V8 uses an 8 speed automatic transmission while the diesels use a 6 speed auto.

All this power enables decent hauling and towing capacities for the 3500. Exact towing or trailer weights depend on the engine and truck type, but it’s very competitive at up to 8623kg.

The current 2022 Ram 3500 is a solid contender if you want to work your truck. The engines are powerful, the cabin can be comfortable, if not luxurious, and the truck overall is reliable.

We fully expect the 2023 Ram 3500 to improve on that for all the right reasons!
