The 2023 Ford Ranger Is Officially Released

The 2023 Ford Ranger Is Officially Released

Ford has released an official image of the upcoming 2023 Ford Ranger being tested off road. We don’t get to see all that much thanks to camouflage but we do get an idea of what to expect.

There’s also a video showcasing the truck with the usual messages and music.

Apparently, the Ranger(s) features are global spec versions and North American variants may differ slightly.

While this is a teaser for the 2023 model, this Ranger is due to be revealed fully later this year and hit production in 2022.

2023 Ford Ranger

The 2023 Ford Ranger is slightly larger than the current model but is based on the current platform. The increase in size should help the new truck handle the extra hardware required for hybrid technology.

We don’t get to see much of the new truck thanks to that camouflage but it looks more angular than the current model, more like an F-150 than a Ranger if we’re honest.

We also see Single, Super Cab and Crew Cab bodies in the video, so we know there will be those options.

As the Ranger is expected to use the same engine as the Bronco, we also think we know that’s a 2.3-litre turbocharged four cylinder or a 2.7-litre V6. It is also very likely it will use Ford’s 10 speed automatic transmission too.

2021 Ford Ranger

The 2021 Ford Ranger is a bit different from the norm. Rather than being designed here and being sent abroad, this is a global model that has been available elsewhere for years and is now being imported into North America.

It’s a midsize truck that offers similar capabilities as the Ford F-150 but in a smaller, more maneuverable package.

It’s a well designed package that uses everything Ford learned over the years across the world and made it relevant to the home market. It’s comfortable, capable and easy to live with.

All things we want from a truck.

The current model uses a single engine, the 2.3-litre turbo four with a 10 speed automatic transmission. It’s a competent pairing with plenty of power and gears and works well in almost any situation.

Cabin comforts

The cabin of the 2021 Ford Ranger is a nice place to be. Front seats are very comfortable and visibility is good all round. You’re high but not too high and can see the road in front as well as all round.

Cabins can be configured to be whatever you want them to be, from simple and unfussy to downright luxurious. While the Ranger cannot quite reach the dizzy heights of F-150 levels of comfort, it isn’t designed to.

Overall, we think the 2021 Ford Ranger is a solid truck that fills a gap perfectly. If you’re in the market for a truck but don’t want something the size of an F-150, the Ranger could be perfect.
