All-New 2022 Kia K3 GT Revealed At Long Last

All-New 2022 Kia K3 GT Revealed At Long Last

The 2022 Kia K3 GT has been revealed in Korea. The replacement for the Forte proves there is a lot of life still left in cars yet. Kia has done an excellent job on the redesign, keeping it similar but also different. It should definitely be enough to keep sales going until the next version.

We see improvements in the headlights, LED running lights, a new grille with new logo above it and what looks like a new lower sill up front. If you see a rear shot, you should also notice new rear lights within a light bar and new rear trim elements.

We didn’t get to see inside but there is apparently a new touchscreen, new instruments, and new interior materials. New wheels are also supposed to be coming.

The reveal said nothing about engines and drivetrains but rumour central said they will remain largely the same as now. That’s fine with us as the current engines are nimble and powerful enough for most uses.

We know the K3 is coming to Canada, we just don’t know when. Production is slated for Q4 2021 so hopefully there will be some kind of news soon.

2021 Kia Forte

The 2021 Kia Forte is a good looking car. It’s aero, has sleek lines, lots of rounded edges and a nice, distinct waistline down each side. It’s an attractive design with a sense of maturity that Kia is endowing on all its vehicles right now.

The Forte has a low front end with narrow grille and lights and a curved hood. A steeply raked windshield and curved roof keep up those aero looks. A large lower sill and side vents give the Forte a sporty look without being too aggressive.

Soft lines, minimal panel detailing down the flank and a nicely balanced rear completes the look.

Inside the 2022 Kia K3 GT

The cabins of all new Kia vehicles are something to behold. Huge improvements in materials, design and finishing make these cabins a nice place to be. Lots of light and space, plenty of technology and adjustable driver positions all combine to deliver an exceptional experience.

Passenger space is also generous, with room for four adults to drive in comfort along with decent trunk space for groceries or luggage.

Engine and mechanicals

There are two engine options with the 2021 Kia Forte. The 2.0-litre four cylinder with 147 hp and a turbocharged 1.6-litre that produces 201 hp and 195 lb-ft of torque. Both can use a manual or CVT transmission.

The Forte GT uses the turbo and a 7 speed dual clutch transmission.

The Forte earned Top Safety Pick and comes with automatic emergency braking, active lane control, automatic emergency braking and a driver-attention monitor. Optional kit includes blind spot monitoring and adaptive cruise control.

The 2021 Kia Forte is a great value package that delivers everything you need from a sedan. It’s quiet, composed, handles well and is comfortable to drive or be driven in. Considering what you get for your money, we think this car is a bargain!
