All-new 2022 Kia Forte Revealed with More Features

All-new 2022 Kia Forte Revealed with More Features

The 2022 Kia Forte is the second refresh of a popular car this week. This small Kia is another that’s hanging on for dear life in the face of crossovers everywhere, yet is more than holding its own.

The 2022 Kia Forte more than proves that. The Forte, K3 in other regions, got some attention earlier this year. Now it’s time for the North American version.

The first good news is that it is keeping the name. Rather than switching to the K3 like the global model and the Optima, now K5.

The other good news is a redesigned exterior that makes the Forte look better than ever.

The 2022 Kia Forte gets the new Kia logo, new headlights, a new grille, a new front bumper and new fog lights. The GT model gets its own variation of these things.

There are also new taillights for all models, with LED versions in the GT-line. New alloy wheel designs for more models and a trunk lid spoiler for certain trims also ring in the changes.

The changes continue inside, with a new larger instrument cluster and a larger 10.25” touchscreen. That touchscreen includes wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

The inside also gets a new USB charger for rear passengers and an electronic parking brake.

The GT-Line and GT gets remote start, new synthetic leather interior, new safety options and minor interior trim upgrades.

These upgrades, along with the steady improvements in materials, build quality, design and technology make the interior of most Kia cars a nice place to spend time.

There’s a lot of light, good visibility, plenty of storage, supportive seats and lots of head and leg room despite its modest dimensions.

Under the hood of the 2022 Kia Forte

There are two engine options for the 2022 Kia Forte. They are a 2.0-litre four cylinder that produces 147 hp and 132 lb-ft of torque for non-GT models and a turbocharged 1.6-litre engine with 201 hp and 195 lb-ft of torque for the GT model.

Both power the front wheels using a 7 speed dual clutch automatic transmission.

Despite modest output, the Forte is light enough that even the non-turbo version is nippy around town, responsive under acceleration and braking and a breeze to drive.

The transmission is smooth and always seems to be able to find the right gear at the right time.

The overall package is a compelling one. It’s great around town, can fit the family along with luggage or groceries, offers decent power for its size and good gas mileage too.

At this price, it’s genuinely hard to beat!
