2022 Jeep Compass is Well Equipped & Luxurious

We got to see a little of the new 2022 Jeep Compass last week. The new Jeep has been around in other regions for a little while but it’s the first time we have seen this new version for real.
It’s showing at the 2021 Chicago Auto Show and we got to see a little more than the images we saw initially.
It’s a good looking model with a shark-like front end. It’s angled up from the lower sill into a modest grille and narrow light setup. It’s a unique look that you will either love or hate. We kind of love it.
New LED lighting, new taillights and new colour options are all obvious from the outside.
But it’s when you get inside that the real changes appear. There’s a new cabin with a sleeker, more modern look with new seating, new instruments, new dashboard, new centre screen, new steering wheel and new higher quality materials throughout.
“The new 2022 Jeep Compass ushers in new levels of comfort and functionality, with premium styling and craftsmanship inside and out,” said Jim Morrison, vice president, Jeep Brand North America.
“Sophisticated and well equipped, the Compass stays true to its benchmark 4×4 capability and on-road dynamics, but with even more refinement and precision. It also boasts a host of new attributes and innovative technologies designed to keep consumers connected and make their lives easier.”
Engine and mechanicals
The 2022 Jeep Compass uses the reliable Tigershark engine, the 2.4-litre four cylinder that delivers 177 hp and 172 lb-ft of torque. It uses either a 9 speed or 6 speed automatic transmission.
The suspension, chassis and steering have all been improved and new safety tech has been introduced.
You can now have full-speed collision warning with active brake and pedestrian and cyclist detection, active lane management with lane departure warning with lane keep assist and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross path detection.
A new semi-autonomous Highway Assist system will be released a short while after the Compass.
There may also be a hybrid version coming. Presumably a version of the 4xe range Jeep is developing. Not much has been said aside from hints but we think it’s a strong possibility, especially as the switch from ICE is happening fast in many Compass markets.
The 2022 Jeep Compass will come in the familiar trims, Sport, Latitude, Limited, and Trailhawk with a new Latitude LUX is being introduced with a more luxurious feel. Exactly what it will bring is not yet known but we look forward to finding out!
The Compass doesn’t have much of a presence in North America as our roads are big enough for the Cherokee but we should see it soon once this new model is released.
The 2022 Jeep Compass is due in the fall.
