2021 Ram 1500 TRX reveal happening today

2021 Ram 1500 TRX reveal happening today

After what seems like a very short time in design and preparation, Ram truck’s answer to the Ford F-150 Raptor is being revealed today, August 17 2020. Details of the Hellcat-powered truck are still undefined but we have just hours to wait until we know what’s on offer.

The 2021 Ram 1500 TRX has been rumoured for a little while now but doesn’t seem to have been built up like the Ford Ranger or Ford Bronco. We did have some rumours, a couple of spy shots, a couple of month’s wait, a video or two and it is now the official release.

I must say I prefer this shorter approach rather than the endless teases and sneak peeks.

Here is a video showing the 2021 Ram 1500 TRX:

Even though we haven’t seen the 2021 Ram 1500 TRX in the clear, we know quite a bit about it now. We know it’s a customized Ram 1500. We know it will use the awesome Hellcat supercharged 6.2-litre V8 engine and we know the running gear and brakes will be uprated to cope with that power.

There will also likely be uprated suspension and rough road upgrades to help the truck cope with off road terrain. After all, that video does say, "Who will tame the world's most treacherous, unforgiving terrain?"

Presumably that means the TRX will have serious off road ability. Especially if it is to take on the Raptor.

There is also expected to be lower power versions of the 2021 Ram 1500 TRX coming at some point. Commentators have pointed at the 5.7-litre Hemi engine and even the ever-present 3.6-litre V6 Pentastar engine as possible contenders. For now, all we know for sure is that some kind of Hellcat version is on the way.

While we don’t know that the TRX will have variable driving modes and the ability to tweak certain settings, there have been rumours of such a thing. Rumours have also suggested the ability for the driver to be able to dynamically adjust throttle response, gear shifts and stability control sensitivity in the cabin.

That will be a neat trick if true.

We only have a couple of hours to wait until the reveal. Then we can spend the next couple of weeks poring over the stats and the details to see how the truck will stack up against the Raptor.

With production of the 2021 Ram 1500 TRX slated for Q4 2020, there won’t be long to wait until we get to see one in the flesh. Until then, the reveal will be happening on the Ram YouTube and Facebook channels.
