The Grand Cherokee has been around a while now and while it still looks great, it is due a refresh. We knew one was on the cards and it seems our suspicions were correct when what has been dubbed the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee was spotted in testing. The big Jeep is on its way!
As is usual, the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee test vehicle was heavily camouflaged when it was spotted. We can see an overall shape but not much detail. There are a couple of differences that we immediately noticed though. The roof seems flatter than the original and the windshield slightly more swept back. The front end seems to have an angle to it too and isn’t as upright as the current model.
Other commentators have said it looks longer than the current model too but I don’t know. The longer rear overhang, leaning out more over the back wheels is definitely different though. From certain angles, there is more of a hint of the new Land Rover Discovery about the outline of the new Grand Cherokee.
We don’t know what else to expect from the new vehicle but I’ll keep an ear to the ground to find out.
2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee
The 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee is an excellent SUV that you know can take you anywhere. With excellent build quality, strong engines and superb cabins, this is the SUV to beat if you want a domestic brand that won’t leave you wanting more.
The Grand Cherokee is a full size SUV that offers one of the most comfortable driving experiences around. With superb seating, composed suspension and reliability, it has a lot going for it. The design is classic but still modern with the signature grille, angled lights and slick lower fascia. Panel design is nice, with some good detailing and the rear end is both practical and pretty to look at.
Inside, passenger space is generous and technology is everywhere. There is room for all the family and cargo in back.
The engines aren’t bad either. The base is the 3.6-litre V6 that gives 295 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. The 5.7-litre V8 is next up with 360 hp, the 6.4-litre V8 in the SRT has 475 hp and the supercharged 6.2-litre in the Trackhawk gives 707 hp. There is also the 3.0-litre turbodiesel with 240 hp and 420 lb-ft of torque. Each uses an eight speed automatic to power the rear or all wheels.
