2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee gets a trim shakeup

2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee gets a trim shakeup

The 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee is the last of the old guard. A design that has been around for almost a decade is being replaced by something completely new next year. That doesn’t mean this version is going out with a whimper though. Jeep still has plans for its big SUV.

The 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee will see a new 80th Anniversary Edition like other models and a new Laredo X trim. The Limited trim will no longer be available in anything but the V6 though.

2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee 80th Anniversary Edition

The 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee 80th Anniversary Edition will echo the Wrangler and Gladiator special editions. For the Grand Cherokee, that means new Granite Crystal wheels, new exterior trim and badging and a leather interior with coloured trim.

Buyers will also get Jeep's ProTech II Package which delivers adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning and full-speed collision warning.

2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo X

The 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo X will sit above the Laredo E in the pecking order and offers a few extras. Those include body coloured exterior trim, darker taillights, 20 inch gloss black aluminium wheels and an Altitude grille.

Inside, the Laredo X gets an 8.4 inch Uconnect screen with navigation, remote engine start, heated front seats and steering wheel and a power lift gate.

2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee

The next generation 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee is still in development. We have seen it around in various spy shots and it looks good from what little we have seen.

The current WK version was released back in 2011 so it’s due a revamp. Jeep doesn’t tend to comment on what’s to come but rumours have been flying about whether we will get V8s or even V6 engines. We think both engine types will remain for the foreseeable future.

While the world is shifting to electric, the V8 is still insanely popular. Especially among performance vehicle enthusiasts, which unlikely as it may seem, some full size SUVs fit into.

If you’re a fan of the 5.7-liter Hemi V8 or Pentastar V6, we think you’ll still get what you need from this next generation Grand Cherokee. We even think the supercharged V8 of the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk will remain, at least for a while. It’s too good a number generator to not continue for as long as possible.

That isn’t to say there won’t be a hybrid or electric at some point as there will very likely be one or both. As long as they are as much fun to drive as the eight pots, that’s fine with us!
