2021 Ford F-150 tops the towing charts

2021 Ford F-150 tops the towing charts

The F-150 achieves a lot of things, including being a best-seller for Ford. Adding to the list of achievements is the fact the new 2021 Ford F-150 can tow and haul more than its rivals.

While seemingly a small thing, if you actually use your truck for work, towing and hauling can make a big difference. Even leisure users who tow boats or trailers will want to know just what the F-150 is capable of.

The answer is quite a lot.

Ford F-150 tow and haul

The 2021 Ford F-150 with its 3.5-litre turbocharged V6 engine delivers 400 hp and 500 lb-ft of torque. It’s a great engine with smooth delivery, a great 10 speed transmission and decent gas mileage for its power.

The combination also allows the 2021 Ford F-150 to be rated to tow up to 6350kg and carry 1474kg.

The 2020 Chevy Silverado is rated to tow 6078kg. The 2021 Ram 1500 can tow up to 5783kg. Both of those trucks need the V8 engine to reach those ratings.

In fact, the 2021 Ford F-150 Hybrid is almost as good. It is rated to tow up to 5760kg and carry up to 961kg. That models uses the 3.5-litre engine alongside a 35 kW electric motor and 1.5 kwh lithium-ion battery pack to deliver a combined 430 hp and 560 lb-ft of torque.

2021 Ford F-150

The 2021 Ford F-150 continues the boxed steel frame that has served it so well. It also continues the aluminium body that has now been accepted as more than up to the task.

The design is largely the same, with big front grille, vertical lights either side, a huge hood and big blue oval up front. There are apparently 11 grille options. Just one example of how Ford has built choice as well as tough.

The interior of the 2021 Ford F-150 has seen a lot of work. It boasts better materials, new colour choices, more storage, the option for a huge 12” touchscreen, a dual glove box, Ford SYNC 4, digital gauges and seats that can fold almost completely flat.

The optional work surface inside could offer a lot of scope for work trucks too.

The same range of engines are still currently available. Choose from the 2.7-litre EcoBoost V6, 3.3-litre V6, 3.5-litre EcoBoost V6, 5.0-litre V8, the 3.0-litre diesel and soon, the 3.5-litre hybrid V6.

Each will use Ford’s superb 10 speed automatic transmission.

If you’re looking for a genuine do-it-all truck that doesn’t compromise on interior comforts and rugged capability, the 2021 Ford F-150 is it. Visit Northway Ford Lincoln, 388 King George Road Brantford ON N3S 3N2 to learn more.
