2021 Ford F-150 revealed

2021 Ford F-150 revealed

The reveal for one of Ford’s biggest models has happened and we now know exactly what to expect in the new truck. The 2021 Ford F-150 was revealed last week and while it wasn’t the huge leap we were hoping for, the updates are all solid and well considered.

The 2021 Ford F-150 brings a lot of new stuff to the table but it’s mainly evolution rather than revolution. That’s fine with us. While we love big leaps, we also love it when an automaker recognizes when things are good enough as they are and just require some tweaks here and there to make them better.

Here’s a video from Ford of what to expect:

2021 Ford F-150

Every panel on the new 2021 Ford F-150 is new but the actual visible changes are very modest. The new model will now offer three different light designs, 13 different wheel types and 11 different grille designs as options when building your truck.

The demo model looks very similar to the current model but you’re going to be able to customize it to your particular taste. You will also still have the same body type, truck bed length and fitment options as before.

The truck itself is slightly wider by ¾” apparently, to give it a wider stance. It will come with active grille shutters, new tailgate toolset, new Tailgate Work Surface, zone lighting, new towing options and power running boards to name a few changes.

Under the hood will be the 3.3-litre V6, 2.7-litre EcoBoost V6, 3.5-litre turbocharged EcoBoost V6, the 5.0-litre V8 and the 3.0-litre PowerStroke diesel V6 engines. There will also be the hybrid and electric variants too.

The hybrid is a combination of twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 with a 35-kilowatt electric motor and a 1.5-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery. It will also come with an optional generator for power tools or accessories.

Inside the F-150

Inside, the 2021 Ford F-150 gets a new Interior Work Surface which acts as a table, Max Recline Seating, larger touchscreen, Ford CoPilot 360 smart technology, new car software that enables OTA (Over The Air) updates, new monitoring cameras for Active Drive Assist and blind spot monitoring.

The combination of larger touchscreen and new digital instruments bring the F-150 right up to date. Other controls have also been revised to complement the new layout. All provide a more upscale look to the interior.

The cabin of the Ford F-150 has always been a nice place to be but it’s going to get even better with this new model. With a release sometime in the fall, we don’t have long to wait until we can see it for real.
