2021 Ford Bronco to debut July 9

2021 Ford Bronco to debut July 9

In the second reveal news of the week, Ford has announced the long-awaited Bronco will be fully unveiled on July 9 2020. After months of waiting and weeks of delays, the new Ford truck is one of the first that will be making its entrance in this new world.

We have seen images, videos, teasers, renderings, heard rumours and discussed the truck at length. Thanks to coronavirus, we have had longer than usual to discuss this truck and build up an appetite for whatever it has to offer. That will come to a head on July 9.

As is the norm nowadays, the reveal will be on video. A livestreamed event is scheduled for July 9. Deliveries are not expected until early 2021 although that may change.

There is no mention of a reveal date for the Bronco Sport as yet. This date is purely for the Bronco.

The reveal cuts in front of the reveal of the new F-150 by a few days as that is supposed to happen July 15, although these dates are subject to change.

2021 Ford Bronco

It was almost three years ago that Ford announced they were reinventing the Bronco name. We have had a slow but steady flow of hints and rumours since then, with some teaser images, spy shots and leaked order sheets to chew on since then.

Now we know that we have less than a month to wait until we get to see the truck for real and learn how right, or wrong the speculation was.

The main rumour was around the engine. We think it will be the same 2.3-litre four cylinder with turbocharger that we see in other Ford models. Whether there will be other variants with more powerful motors remains to be see but we think this is the engine that will feature.

The Ford 2.7-litre V6 may also be an option for the more powerful motor but the rumours around this engine haven’t been as insistent as they have been for the 2.3.

We also expect a manual and an automatic variant, four wheel drive as an option and the looks we have seen so many times with the cute round headlights and modest size.

Then there’s a performance model. We saw the Baja Bronco so we know it’s possible. We also know how compelling the Raptor is for the F-150. Will there be a Raptor variant of the Bronco? Or something more along the lines of the Baja? We will have to wait and see on that one.

The reveal of the 2021 Ford Bronco has to be the most hotly anticipated reveal of the year. With what seems like forever to build an appetite, it will all be over in three weeks’ time. I can’t wait!
