The Montreal Auto Show had a lot to see and do but the final car of interest to us here at Car Nation Canada was the new Ford everyone is talking about. The 2020 Ford Mustang Mach-E. It also made an appearance at the show and drew quite the crowd.
The 2020 Ford Mustang Mach-E is controversial sure but mainly for the name choice. What isn’t so controversial are those looks. It’s a crossover but not like you know it. It’s half crossover, half fastback and looks content to carve its own path in the motoring world.

The design is very pretty. It is full of founded edges, interesting features like the front wheel arches, side sills and that bulging waist over the rear wheels. The front is attractive too with the pony front and centre on the filled grille, the Mustang-esque lights and bulging hood. A rising beltline and fastback configuration at the rear mixes things up nicely.
Inside, the cabin is modern but accessible. The demo car had lots of leather, lots of technology and the quiet composure we like to see in new models. It also had a huge 15.5” touchscreen that looked very easy to use. The car will also feature Ford’s Phone As A Key and a lot of other technology to use up more of the battery that powers this car.

As the ‘E’ in 2020 Ford Mustang Mach-E implies, this is an electric vehicle. There will be two versions, the Standard Range and Extended Range. The Standard will come with a 75.7 kWh battery while the Extended Range will have a 98.8 kWh battery with around 475km of range.
The electric motor will generate the equivalent of 332 hp and 417 lb-ft in the Extended Range model. No data was available for the Standard. Either way, that’s a decent chunk of power that will be available. Higher power GT and GT Performance models will be available at a later date.
The 2020 Ford Mustang Mach-E will feature three different drive modes, Whisper, Engage and Unbridled. Each will offer increased levels of performance or battery saving and will be reflected in the ambient lighting and instrument background to let you know which mode you’re in.
The 2020 Ford Mustang Mach-E is certainly generating the headlines and people seem to be making all the right noises. While not all the information is available about this model as yet, what we have seen so far is encouraging.
An exact release date for the 2020 Ford Mustang Mach-E has yet to be announced. As has pricing. Visit Northway Ford Lincoln, 388 King George Road Brantford ON N3S 3N2 to register your interest.
