The Ford Edge is a popular crossover. It has car-like proportions and handling, with the convenience of a small SUV. It also has the looks familiar to all Ford fans. If you looked at a standard Edge and wanted more but didn’t want the full fat Edge ST, the ST-Line delivers what you need.
For those who want something a little sportier looking than a standard Edge, we present the 2020 Ford Edge ST-Line. It provides the appearance of the ST without the turbocharged six cylinder engine. It provides the kerb appeal and the aesthetics of a much sportier models with the everyday driving characteristics of a standard Edge.
“Edge ST continues to break new ground with terrific styling, powerful performance and smart technology,” Craig Patterson, Ford SUV marketing manager, said in a statement announcing the new variant. “But some customers want style and value and don’t need all of the horsepower. For them, Edge ST-Line hits the bull’s-eye – again.”
I think it’s an excellent idea.
ST-Line
Lots of automakers have trims that sit between. Audi is a classic. You have the A4 and A6, the S4 and S6 and the S-Line that looks sporty but has standard engines. The ST-Line is Ford’s answer to the S-Line.
The 2020 Ford Edge ST-Line uses the standard 2.0-litre EcoBoost four cylinder engine that produces 250 hp and 275 lb-ft of torque. It uses an eight speed automatic transmission to drive the front wheels. AWD is an option.
It’s a very competent engine and much easier to handle day to day than the 335 hp turbocharged six cylinder in the ST.
The ST-Lin adds the exterior trim, body coloured elements with black trim pieces, LED lighting, 20 inch alloy wheels and roof tip spoiler at the back.
Inside, the ST-Line adds Ford Sync 3 with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Waze and Ford+Alexa. It also offers the optional Ford Co-Pilot360 drive assistance package and the option to purchase the ST brakes.
2020 Ford Edge
The 2020 Ford Edge is a very handsome vehicle. It is one of the most attractive crossovers out there right now. In fact, I would go as far as to say it is the most compelling domestic crossover out there. If anything would make someone forgo a car for a crossover, the Edge would do it.
It’s an attractive package with sharp modern styling, great handling, lots of technology and a light cabin. It’s a very aero shape and has the engines to make any drive fun. With great safety scores and the opportunity to upgrade with the full Ford Co-Pilot360 setup, it’s a safe car too!
