2020 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye spied

2020 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye spied

The 2020 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye is a poorly-kept secret with most people who like Dodge knowing it was on the way. We have seen camouflaged spy shots and we have seen the leaks. Now we can see the sedan with very little camouflage at all.

The eagle-eyed folks over at Mopar Insider have a selection of images of the 2020 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye. It was caught on camera in Detroit being tested almost in the clear. A small camouflage panel hid the hood but the rest of the car is plain to see.

Turn of the Charger

Most fans of Dodge sedans had noted that the Challenger seemed to get more of the good stuff and had most of the fun. The equally good Charger had some love but nothing like the Challenger. Even FCA acknowledged that the Challenger seemed to get the better end of the deal.

All that is changing with the 2020 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye.

Even with that camouflaged panel, a large hood scoop is clear to see. This lends itself well to what we heard about the differences between the Hellcat and the Hellcat Redeye, the hood. A larger intake was expected on the Redeye with a pair of vents further up the hood.

In the image, you can clearly see the intake while a pair of panels cover what could be those vents over the wheel arch. That is pure speculation of course but it does make sense.

Charging ahead

The design of the 2020 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye looks amazing. It’s enough of the old Charger to make us happy but enough new to make us excited. The modern front and lights set the scene nicely, the colour is fantastic, along with those shiny black wheels.

Proportions look spot-on too. Overhangs look equal front and rear. The hood is balanced by a higher trunk area at the back and the wheels are different sizes, which also balance out the lower front and higher rear. It is a well designed car with a fantastic profile.

Unfortunately, we don’t know much about the 2020 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye. All we have are those leaks from last year and the rumour a new Charger would debut this spring. With all the upheaval in the auto show calendar right now, that could end up being a virtual release instead of a live one.

Whatever happens, we are quite certain the 2020 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye is on its way and we cannot wait!
