2020 Dodge Charger GT goes AWD

All-wheel drive isn’t mandatory here in Canada but if you live outside the city it can be a significant benefit. While late to the AWD party, Dodge has finally got the message and added the feature to their new Dodge Charger GT. If you were looking for a reason to buy one, now you have it!
The 2020 Dodge Charger GT AWD joins the Charger SXT in offering all-wheel drive as part of the deal. It will have its own trim in the 2020 Dodge Charger GT AWD and will offer winter-friendly driving to anyone who buys it. Despite huge dips in sedan sales, the Charger is bucking the trend with significant growth. This new model is only going to accelerate that.
‘Most people think of Chargers and Challengers as high-performance muscle cars, which clearly they are, but they can also be four-season capable AWD performance cars.’ That’s according to FCA and Tim Kuniskis. ‘Only Dodge offers vehicles that combine practicality and all-weather driving confidence without sacrificing muscle car attitude.’
According to Dodge, 2019 was the best year yet for Charger sales. It recorded more sales this year than in any of the last ten. Considering the age of the design and the shift towards crossovers, that alone proves how good this car can be. For many of us who regularly drive in adverse conditions, AWD could seriously tip the balance.
2020 Dodge Charger GT
The 2020 Dodge Charger GT is exactly what it looks like. A muscle car. It is unashamedly masculine with aggressive looks, that low stance, hood vent, black vents and large alloys. Despite being older in car terms, it’s still a very capable platform with very good looks. Definitely what you would expect from Dodge.
Inside, there is a lot of space in front and in back. Seats are comfortable with extra bolstering up front in the GT. The driving position is relaxed and offers good visibility as well as a nice dashboard layout, solid controls and reassuring dials and switches.
Room in back is decent too with room for two adults to sit in comfort with some cargo in the rear.
Under the hood is the very capable 3.6-litre V6 that generates 300 hp and 264 lb-ft of torque. While the GT would definitely benefit from a V8 option, the V6 is a capable motor with plenty of power. Add the slick transmission and optional paddle shifters, you have complete control over this vehicle.
With upcoming AWD version and its front axle disconnect system, you will have better road holding than before. The GT should be able to put its power down better and corner better too!
