Check Out The Hennessey & The Velociraptor Ford Ranger

Apparently the Ford Ranger Raptor won’t be coming to North America. It seems a bit of an oversight from Ford given how well the F-150 Raptor sells and how into our trucks we are here. Nevertheless, Hennessey Performance Engineering feel our pain and are happy to fill the gap with a truck of their own.

The Ford VelociRaptor Ranger is going to be a best seller I can feel it in my bones. It will be an upgrade package for the Ranger that will boost engine output from the 270 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque of the standard motor up to 350 hp and 385 lb-ft of torque. They will achieve this by retuning the ECU, boosting the turbocharger, adding new high-flow intake and new exhaust.

As an added bonus, the package will also include new bumpers, fenders, LED lighting, Stage One off-road suspension with lift kit and some new Hennessey wheels too.

All this could be yours for $19,995 USD plus the donor truck or $64,995 USD for the complete package with new truck.

2019 Ford Ranger

The 2019 Ford Ranger is a midsize truck that is going to sell as well and perform as well as the F-150. It’s smaller but no less awesome. It is newer but no less appealing and has fewer engine options but is no less fun. All in all, it’s a truck for those who don’t even like trucks.

The design is modern, stylish and nowhere near as aggressive as competing trucks. It’s a more inclusive style that should appeal to everyone. The interior is pretty good too, with great materials, lots of technology, lots of light and space and a bewildering array of options to choose from.

There is a single engine option but it won’t disappoint. It’s a 2.3-litre turbocharged four cylinder that produces 270 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque. If Hennessey can stretch that to 350 with some bolt-on upgrades, the engine is obviously capable of much more so isn’t stressed in stock guise.

Ford’s ten speed transmission sends power to the rear and has part-time AWD controllable from the cab.

Talking of cabs, there is both an extended cab and crew-cab option with the extended having a 6ft load bed and the crew having a 5ft load bed. It is capable of hauling 1,860 pounds and towing up to 7,500 with a towing package.

At the time of writing, the 2019 Ford Ranger hasn’t been safety tested but can come with plenty of safety tech. That includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, active lane control, blind-spot monitors and adaptive cruise control can all be fitted to your truck alongside the standard safety features you would expect.

The Ford VelociRaptor Ranger is going to be awesome but the core truck isn’t bad either. Visit Northway Ford Lincoln, 388 King George Road Brantford ON N3S 3N2 to see for yourself.
