Ford has announced a new variant of the Ford Ranger light truck, the FX2. It’s a lighter, two-wheel drive version of the FX4 that other trucks feature and could be ideal for buyers who want an upgrade to an already very good looking truck. It isn’t all about looks though. The 2020 Ford Ranger FX2 includes some off road upgrades to give it real rough road potential.
The FX2 is a lighter version of the FX4 4x4 variant available for the F-150. It includes 17 or 18 inch wheels with Hankook Dynapro AT-M all-terrain tires, a higher front sill for better ground clearance, a suspension tune to improve the ride over varying terrain, underbody protection to keep the running gear safe and an electronic locking differential for ultimate control.
On the inside, a modified version of the FX4 instrument cluster is also included in the price.
‘We're seeing sales trends that tell us to grow Ranger's capability and appearance options even further," said Chad Callander, Ford Ranger consumer marketing manager, in the company's announcement. "The FX2 Package is a result of us listening to our customers and what they're demanding from their trucks.’
The 2020 Ford Ranger FX is available to order now. If you don’t need AWD but still like to hit the rough stuff every now and again, this could be the trim for you!
2019 Ford Ranger
The 2019 Ford Ranger is a top truck. It looks great, offers hauling or towing ability without the imposing size and delivers car-like road manners in a very tidy package. The standard truck looks cool but this FX2 model takes that forward in a big way. If I was in the market for a truck, I think this could be the one.
The standard Ranger is still a very nice looking truck with all the looks of the F-150 with some unique touches to make it stand on its own. The cabin is top class with decent passenger space, good visibility, lots of tech and a ton of options to make it yours. Your truck can be specified with Ford Sync 3, an 8 inch touchscreen, LED instruments, 4G/LTE connectivity, Co-Pilot 360 and a whole lot more.
The 2.3-litre turbocharged engine is standard across all trucks. Capable of 270 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque, it’s plenty enough for this light truck. Paired with Ford’s 10 speed automatic transmission, there is enough here to deliver a solid performance whatever you ask of it.
The 2019 Ford Ranger is all the truck most of us need and delivers solid performance and a comfortable ride on almost any terrain. Visit Northway Ford Lincoln, 388 King George Road Brantford ON N3S 3N2 to see it up close!
