2019 Ram 1500 Rebel: A Quick Overview

2019 Ram 1500 Rebel: A Quick Overview

640 × 426

I got a look at the 2019 Ram 1500 Rebel for the first time the other day. While very busy, Unique Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram doesn’t always sell every model of Ram there is and some are special orders. This Ram truck was one such order. I must say, after having a look over it, I am surprised there aren’t many more of them on the road.

The standard Ram 1500 is a solid truck that looks great, works hard and can be amazingly opulent if specified right. The Ram Rebel is a bit different. It is a truck with attitude and genuine off-road chops.

Rebel with a cause

The 2019 Ram 1500 Rebel is built not only to look good but to handle the really rough stuff too. It isn’t as out there as the Raptor so is more accessible and easier to handle than the Ford competition.

The looks are awesome, especially in its rich red colour. The black trim adds a real masculine character to the appearance and looks many times better than chrome in my opinion.

The design is great. A big black trimmed front end with RAM written front and centre, new lights, new vented hood, widened and trimmed fenders, high ground clearance, blacked out rear lights and twin tailpipes. New larger alloy wheels and off road tires complete the look.

On the inside, the truck is comfortable and very well optioned. The model I saw had black upholstery with red trim and stitching and looked great. The seats were firm but comfortable, the centre stack looked to have been modernized and the touchscreen was very responsive indeed. I couldn’t play with the truck, but everything looked very solidly built and reassuringly made.

More than a truck

The 2019 Ram 1500 Rebel is a standard 1500 modified with some trick bits to look the part. Those bits include Bilstein dampers, a 1 inch increase in ride height, hill descent control, locking rear differential, uprated suspension and brakes and bash plates underneath to protect critical components.

The Rebel is available with both rear and all-wheel drive and crew or quad cab configurations. It is powered by the awesome 5.7-litre Hemi V8 that delivers 395 hp and 410 lb-ft of torque. There is a Pentastar V6 option too. There are rumours that a hybrid system will be coming later in the year which uses that Pentastar V6 and an eTorque hybrid motor but nothing has yet been confirmed.

I didn’t get to drive the 2019 Ram 1500 Rebel but given how well the standard truck performs, we have a good idea of what to expect. The truck looks fantastic, is very comfortable and has a Hemi. I think that’s all we need to know!
