2019 Ram 1500

2019 Ram 1500

640 × 388
The Ram 1500 is one of the best-selling trucks in North America. It is also one of the nicest to drive and most capable. Any change to such a beloved vehicle in a segment so hotly contested is a risk and Ram have a tough ask to improve upon the current model. As far as we can tell, they have managed to do just that.

The 2019 Ram 1500 has different looks, is lighter, more capable and even has a hybrid option.

2019 Ram 1500
The 2019 Ram 1500 is slightly longer and wider than the current version. It has a new frame and chassis, new aluminium hood and tailgate and a new look. These changes reduce weight by 225 pounds, which is not insubstantial for a truck.

The new design is an evolution of the theme. Rather than completely change the look, Ram have elected to modernize and improve it. The new front end is still unmistakably Ram but has evolved enough to keep it competitive.

The new light setup, new grille and new bumper offers a new look while retaining the old. The taillights have been given the same treatment. They look enough like the old ones to be reminiscent but are also all new. New wheel options are also available to differentiate this model from previous ones.

Inside, the 2019 Ram 1500 the first thing you notice is the centre console. It is much larger than before and flows neatly into a huge 12 inch touchscreen in the centre stack. The build quality, practicality and options for customization are just as good as you would expect from Ram.

Under the hood
The engines in the 2019 Ram 1500 are current ones. The 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 produces 305 hp and 269 lb-ft of torque and the 5.7-litre Hemi produces 395 hp and 410 lb-ft of torque. The hybrid and diesel models will appear later on and we don’t yet know what the specifics are for those.

There are also two variations of transfer case, on-demand AWD, electronic locking differential, uprated suspension with the option of the current air suspension upgrade and an off-road package should you need it. There are also new shock absorbers all round with frequency damping to help road holding and cornering.

There is also quite a lot of safety tech earmarked for the truck. Options include adaptive cruise control, adaptive front headlights, advance brake assist, blind-spot monitoring, forward collision warning and lane departure warning. There are apparently over a hundred safety and security options available with the 2019 Ram 1500.

Pricing has yet to be announced and Ram have yet to release a date. Register your interest with Unique Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, 915 Walkers Line, Burlington, ON  L7N 3V8 and we can let you know everything when we find out.
