2019 Lincoln MKC looks refreshed

640 × 423
The 2019 Lincoln MKC has been previewed ahead of the Los Angeles Auto Show and will be freely available to be seen at the show that starts this Friday at the Los Angeles Convention Center. The new Continental has gone down very well indeed so does this smaller Lincoln SUV fare as well?

The short answer is yet. Very much so.

The 2019 Lincoln MKC is a mid-cycle refresh yet has been quite significant. A new grille may not seem like much of a refresh but completely changes the character of the vehicle. Flanked by new LED lights and trailed by new LED tail lights, these small additions change the character of the MKC more than you would imagine.

On the inside the inclusion of Ford Sync 3 infotainment and Android Auto and Apple CarPlay make for a much more up to date experience. New optional extras now include WiFi, USB ports, heated and cooled seats and a panoramic sunroof.

The existing three Black Label trims, Modern Heritage, Indulgence and Center Stage remain.

Under the hood are the same two Ford engines from before. A 2.0-litre turbo four that produces 245 hp and a 2.3-litre four cylinder produces 285 hp. All wheel drive is an option on the 2.3-litre which allows the MKC to tow up to 3,000 pounds. The smaller engine is FWD only.

Also new is forward collision warning and autonomous emergency braking. It is accompanied by lane-departure warning, blind spot monitoring and active park assist to bring the MKC up alongside newer models and should help improve its safety score significantly.

From what little we know, the 2019 Lincoln MKC is a solid update for whom what is actually a minor refresh punches way above its weight. While simple, the changes create a completely different looking vehicle that still has the same quality and functionality of the current model but brings it firmly up to date.

The 2019 Lincoln MKC is due summer 2018 with prices to yet be announced. Contact Northway Ford Lincoln, 388 King George Road Brantford ON N3S 3N2, to register your interest or to check out the current MKC.
