One of my favourite cars of the moment, the 2019 Kia Stinger, has been awarded Top Safety Pick Plus by the US IIHS. This is confirmation if anyone still needed it that Kia and the Stinger deliver top class motoring at very competitive prices, with no compromises.
2019 Kia Stinger equipped with LED projector lighting qualify as Top Safety Pick Plus from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. Stingers equipped with adaptive LED lighting don’t qualify. Neither do the halogen projector lights.
The Stinger is the tenth Kia model to be awarded Top Safety Pick or Top Safety Pick Plus this year so far.
2019 Kia Stinger
The 2019 Kia Stinger is pure class. It takes the fight to the Germans at half the price and still comes out on top. In my opinion anyway. Now safer than ever, the car is a top pick for performance as well as safety.
The design is awesome. That long low hood, modern and masculine front end with angled lights, tiger nose grille and lower fascia all lend themselves well to a sports car. The rounded roof and tidy rear create a well-balanced car that looks good whether sitting still or overtaking you on the highway.
Inside, the cabin is well appointed, comfortable and nicely arranged. The front seats are supportive and low offering great visibility all round and a connection with the road. Switchgear, instruments and layout of the dashboard are also first class. Despite being a sports car, there are four genuine seats that can fit four genuine adults. Even in back legroom is generous and you could happily spend a few hours being driven around.
Under the hood is either a 2.0-litre turbocharged four cylinder with 255 hp or a 3.3-litre V6 with 365 hp. Both engines perform well with drive being delivered instantly through the eight speed automatic transmission that sends power to the rear wheels. AWD is an option and comes with a neat torque-vectoring system for extra stability.
The 2019 Kia Stinger comes with power front seats, leather upholstery, automatic climate control, cruise control, shift paddles, 18 inch alloy wheels, 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment display, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility and Bluetooth. As it’s Kia, you also get a 5 years or 60,000 mile warranty.
Safety tech can include blind-spot monitors, surround-view camera, head-up display, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, automatic headlights, active lane control and LED headlights.
Equipped with the LED projector lights, the 2019 Kia Stinger is now Top Safety Pick Plus. That’s rare for a sports car so if you want to be safe while still having fun, you know where to come, Georgetown Kia, 199 and 314 Guelph Street, Georgetown, Ontario!
