2019 Kia Sedona: A Quick Overview
Posted on April 6, 2018
The K900 may have been Kia’s star of the New York International Auto Show but the 2019 Kia Sedona minivan definitely deserves a mention. The refreshed people hauler keeps things fresh and provides solid competition for the all-conquering Chrysler Pacifica.
The new design is the first thing you notice. A new front and rear end bring the design up to date with a new lower fascia and tweaked grille and LED headlights. The changes are subtle but effective. The rear sees new lighting and a new bumper. New alloy wheels help differentiate the new model too.
On the inside, the changes continue. New panel trim, new interior lighting and a new seating configuration are all obvious. A new infotainment system is available, as is a new Harmon Kardon audio system. A driver fatigue system is also an option. Called Driver Attention Warning, the system will alert via a visual and an audible warning if the car thinks your attention is not on the road.
Smaller changes include wireless charging points, new Rear Entertainment System on the back of seats, new USB charging points and the option for a single or dual sunroof. The new entertainment system includes a neat smartphone mirroring system that allows you to interact with your phone from the touchscreen. The main infotainment system also includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto too.

The 2019 Kia Sedona uses the existing 3.3-litre V6 as before but switches to Kia’s new eight speed automatic transmission. The engine is rated at 276 hp and 248 lb-ft of torque.
As you wold expect, safety is at the forefront of this family van. The new Sedona features forward-collision warning, adaptive cruise control with stop and go, rear cross-traffic alert, blind-spot monitoring and automated emergency braking. The aforementioned Driver Attention Warning monitors your driving and will warn you if it thinks your attention drifts. It will display a flashing alert and then an audible warning if it thinks it necessary.
The updates to the 2019 Kia Sedona are minor but well chosen. The new transmission, new design elements and new technology do enough to keep the minivan relevant to the modern market. Knowing Kia, pricing will remain competitive and we will continue seeing lots of these on our roads.
