There is a lot of Ford news this week and one of the main stories is the unveiling of the 2019 Ford Shelby GT. It was shown last week at the 2018 Woodward Dream Cruise and seemed to go down very well indeed as you would expect.
It is a welcome return for one of the most prestigious nameplates in motoring. After a break that was entirely too long, Shelby make a comeback with what is an exceptional car, the 2019 Ford Shelby GT. In their usual style, Shelby take a stock Mustang and perform some wizardry that only they can understand upon it and deliver it to you ready to go. They aren’t cheap but then nothing this good should be.
The 2019 Ford Shelby GT builds on the existing Mustang GT with its 5.0-litre V8 and 460 hp and 420 lb-ft of torque and ramps things up a bit. You can go for the 480 hp version which uses some engine tweaks and a Borla exhaust. You can also go for a supercharged version that delivers north of 700 hp which will be similar to the upcoming Shelby GT500.
Exact figures for the engines or specifics for the tweaks have yet to be announced. What we do know is that Shelby worked with Ford Performance to tune the suspension to be able to cope with all this power without compromising the ride too much.
Shelby will make the car to order at prices starting at $61,345 US. Canadian prices have yet to be announced.
Here is a video showing it in action:
2018 Ford Mustang
The 2018 Ford Mustang is a work of art. It has taken the existing design and added a new look front end, new LED lighting, new hood vents, new rear lighting and rear fascia and some new colours and appearance options.
It still looks the business. The design is the right side of aggressive with a huge presence on the road. The new lighting looks great during the day with the LED lights and sounds pretty good too. Inside, a new instrument cluster keeps you informed of what’s going on and your velocity, which is more important than you might imagine once you start driving.
The V6 engine may be gone but the 2.3-litre EcoBoost and the 5.0-litre Coyote engine have received updates to increase power output and gas mileage. Along with the 10 speed automatic transmission, the Mustang is faster and smoother than before while giving you a little more for your money.
