2019 Ford Focus spied

640 × 371
The new 2019 Ford Focus has been spied being tested with minor camouflage. Covered this time in colourful vinyl, the car gives us a good look at the design of the upcoming release. I must say the new Ford hatch looks pretty good!

The Focus is massive in Europe and Canadian buyers don’t seem to mind it either. It is well designed, solidly constructed and offers a range of engines and options that cater for every need. It also looks pretty good too.

Using Ford’s global C-class platform that underpins a few midsize models, the 2019 Ford Focus we see is a five door hatchback. A sedan and wagon will likely also be available and will look similar with their obviously different body styles.

The look brings the Focus firmly into line with Ford’s global design language. The grille and light design is echoed across the car range to varying degrees, as are the detailed front fenders and sloped hood. This time, panel detailing along each side sill and rear quarter also appear, offering quite a bit of interest along the profile.

The interior is apparently much more subtle and low key than existing models. It has somehow been pared back and minimized while offering the same level comfort and features but with a much smaller footprint. I guess we will have to wait until we see it in the flesh to assess that change.

Ford had previously said that their intent for the Focus was to offer more passenger leg room in back, lower weight and increase efficiency. The unofficial goal was a 50kg weight saving and 50mm more leg room in the rear so it will be interesting to see how the Focus delivers.

The only engine specifications we have right now are for Euro-spec Focus. They include a turbocharged 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine, a 1.5-litre four cylinder and a 2.0-litre four cylinder. The Europeans will also have a 1.5-litre four cylinder turbodiesel. We don’t yet know if any of these will make it to Canada.

We also expect an updated version of the awesome Ford Focus ST and an RS model. Ford have hinted that this next RS may be the last but we will have to wait and see on that given how much positive PR Ford gets from it.

The 2019 Ford Focus is likely to appear at an auto show in the near future. As we are getting close to show season, it may not be long before we get to see it in the flesh.

Until then, Northway Ford Lincoln has a wide range of new and certified used Ford Focus as some seriously competitive prices. Visit them at 388 King George Road Brantford ON N3S 3N2.
