Dodge have announced a new Charger special edition called the Charger Hellcat Octane Edition. It takes an already impressive Dodge car and adds a completely new look. The Hellcat doesn’t really need a performance boost so this is all about the appearance.
The Charger Hellcat Octane Edition is an appearance package that comes in Pitch Black or White Knuckle colours. Each will have a contrasting stripe, special 20 inch forged aluminium wheels from the Challenger R/T Scat pack 1320, coloured Brembo brakes, colour coded badging, unique interior trim and upholstery and a new grille.
The new look seems awesome to be honest. I don’t usually rate visual special editions all that much but there is something about the Charger Hellcat Octane Edition that makes it look the business. It is priced reasonably too.
2019 Dodge Charger
The 2019 Dodge Charger continues the legacy design with a few tweaks to keep it looking fresh. It’s an extremely attractive design which is why Dodge have stuck with it for so long. It’s low at the front with a curved hood and modest grille and front fascia and gradually rides upwards towards the rear.
With a traditional sedan shape and a set of awesome alloy wheels, the Charger has a great profile whichever model you choose.
The interior is similarly well styled. The cabin is well specified, light and comfortable. That traditional sedan styling means passenger space is generous and full size adults can sit comfortably in every seat. Depending on the trim, you can keep things simple or go for leather and technology. Either way, the dashboard and driver’s seat is definitely a nice place to spend time!
Under that curved hood is either a V6 or V8 engine. The 3.6-litre V6 is competent with 292 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque or 300 hp and 264 lb-ft of torque in the SXT. Then there is the 5.7-litre V8 engine that produces 370 hp and 395 lb-ft of torque, the 6.4-litre V8 with 485 hp or the supercharged 6.2-litre Hellcat with 707 hp. All use an automatic transmission to send power to the rear or all wheels.
While performance is the aim, safety isn’t ignored. Depending on the trim you go for, you will get a rearview camera, rear parking sensors, adaptive cruise control, automatic high beams, blind-spot monitors, forward-collision warnings and automatic emergency braking. All combine to offer decent safety scores and the reassurance that you’re being well looked after as well as entertained while driving.
The 2019 Dodge Charger is an exceptional car for those with a love for heritage. You get an established design with modern amenities and that’s a combination that is hard to beat. Check it out at Unique Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, 915 Walkers Line, Burlington, ON L7N 3V8.
