Get ready for winter: 2019 Mazda CX-3

640 × 480
The 2019 Mazda CX-3 has been upgraded constantly but you might never notice many of the upgrades. As one of the best looking small crossover SUVs on the road right now it is difficult to overlook the design and sheer road presence of this Mazda crossover. As well as being very good looking, it is also more than capable of holding its own in Canadian winters.

It’s an unlikely choice but if you don’t want something as large as a Grand Cherokee or as hardcore off-road as a Wrangler, the CX-3 may be just what you need.

2019 Mazda CX-3
The 2019 Mazda CX-3 is a stylish SUV that continues the Mazda family theme with long curved hood, low front end, sharply raked windshield and curved roof. It has a small Mazda grille at the front and some angled lights give the CX-3 a very futuristic look. It’s a superb design that has helped Mazda retain strong appeal across its lineup.

Inside, front passengers are treated to some spacious seating arrangements and very classy dashboard. Seats are supportive, the new leather is softer than before and the instrument layout and new electronic handbrake keep things bang up to date.

The only compromise is in the rear. The seating isn’t as spacious as up front although there is still plenty of space. The combination of sloping roof and short wheelbase means there isn’t a huge amount of room for taller passengers or lots of cargo. Although, if you fold those rear seats down things change significantly as you suddenly get lots of storage space.

Under the hood
The 2019 Mazda CX-3 uses a 2.0-litre four cylinder engine that generates 148 hp and 146 lb-ft of torque. It uses a six speed automatic transmission to send power to the front or all wheels. For once, either configuration will work in poor weather thanks to Mazda’s neat torque vectoring system. The system will only send power to the wheel with most grip to help maintain stability on the road.

The 2019 Mazda CX-3 is Top Safety Pick in the US and offers a range of safety tech to help keep you on the road. That includes automatic emergency braking, adaptive headlights, a head-up display, lane-departure warning and adaptive cruise control.

Other options depend on trim but can include alloy wheels, climate control, blind-spot monitoring, LED headlights, heated front seats, navigation, leather upholstery and that head-up display depending on what trim you go for.

The 2019 Mazda CX-3 may be small but it is perfectly formed. It is also very capable in Canadian winters and gets my vote for a safe winter vehicle. Check it out at Mazda of Hamilton, 1977 Upper James Street Hamilton, ON L9B 1K8.
