2018 Lincoln Navigator

2018 Lincoln Navigator

640 × 359
The 2018 Lincoln Navigator has recently been unveiled and we got a glimpse of it over at Northway Ford Lincoln. This is the Lincoln flagship and as such as a lot riding on it. So is it up to the mark?

This is an all-new model that builds upon the success of the 2015 redesign that brought the Navigator firmly into the 21st century. There is a very good reason you see more of them on the streets now and in more colours than just black. It has gone from strength to strength and it isn’t finished yet!

2018 Lincoln Navigator design
The design of the 2018 Lincoln Navigator is traditional and familiar and yet contemporary at the same time. It has been refined enough from the redesign to look new but also look the same. It is difficult to describe and you will need to see what I mean but the changes have been made in all the right places.

This is a full size SUV so has a lot of sheet metal, but it has been left deliberately simple. The only brash thing about the Navigator is its size, which works in your favour anyway. The big front end isn’t as imposing as it could be, the sloped hood is simple and effective, as is the profile. Lincoln styled wheels are the only bit of bling on the whole vehicle and I think it is better for it.

On the inside, the 2018 Lincoln Navigator is a whole new beast. The design is all-American and if you like the thick upholstery, chunky controls and fixtures and lots of comfort, you will love this. The interior is superb, spacious, well proportioned, quiet and comfortable. All things you would buy a Lincoln for.

2018 Lincoln Navigator mechanicals
This is the third generation Navigator and still uses body on frame construction but has added independent rear suspension, a smoother engine, excellent ride quality and a very stiff chassis into the mix.

Under that sleek hood is a Ford-based 3.5-litre twin-turbocharged V6 engine that delivers 450 hp and 510 lb-ft of torque. It uses a 10 speed automatic transmission to keep the drive smooth and calm. With a towing capacity of up to 8,700 pounds, there is a lot of capability to this SUV.

2018 Lincoln Navigator summary
The 2018 Lincoln Navigator looks and sounds fantastic, offers lots of comfort and convenience and has been improved in all the right places. It is still a big car to drive but doesn’t feel like it when you’re inside. The engine is enough for the weight and the new suspension setup makes for a very composed drive.

The Navigator also has all the luxury and features you would expect and will compete well with the likes of Range Rover and Mercedes-Benz.
