The Kia Stinger has been awarded 2018 Best of the Best Award by the by the Canadian Automotive Jury. The awesome Kia sports car has been racking up acclaim since release and is going down as well with owners as it is with journalists and judges it seems.

The 2018 Best of the Best Award recognizes excellence in cars and is not a small prize to win. If that wasn’t enough, the Stinger was also awarded the global iF Design Award by the International Forum of Design. We can’t blame the judges of that one as the Stinger does look amazing.

2018 Kia Stinger
Kia has enjoyed a meteoric rise. Since the Ce’ed first broke onto the world stage in 2006, the Korean automaker has brought itself into the mainstream and proven itself a quality manufacturer and designer of vehicles. The 2018 Kia Stinger is the latest proof of that, if any more were necessary.

The Stinger is Kia’s gauntlet thrown down to the BMW 4 series and the Audi A5. It says, we can do that too and for much less. Kia did acquire ex-BMW designer Albert Bierman to do it, but the result is all Kia.

The long aero shape draws the eye immediately. The low front end, technical lower sill, small tiger nose and long hood with vents is a real triumph of design. A very raked windshield, curved rood and subtly designed hatch at the rear is a nice way to end a car. A low ride height and great looking alloy wheels and detailing across the entire car is a real hit.

The cabin is a nice place to be too. The driving position is low and comfortable without leaving you feeling vulnerable when next to trucks. The build quality is excellent and the car itself is very well equipped.

Engine and mechanicals
The 2018 Kia Stinger has two engine options, a 2.0-litre turbocharged four cylinder that produces 200 hp and a 3.3-litre V6 twin-turbo that delivers 365 hp and 376 lb-ft of torque. Both use an eight speed automatic transmission to drive the rear or all wheels. Canadian versions of the 2018 Kia Stinger are AWD.

One thing owners have said about the Stinger is the superb driving characteristics. It holds the road supremely well, steering is precise and grip is seemingly limitless. A lot of testing went into making the 2018 Kia Stinger drive well, including thousands of miles on the famous Nürburgring in Germany. That work shows when you’re on the road.

I could talk all day about how good the 2018 Kia Stinger or how well it drives but it means nothing until you have experienced it yourself. Contact Grimsby Kia, 435 South Service Road Grimsby, ON L3M 4E8 to do just that.
