2018 Jeep Wrangler spied in the wild

2018 Jeep Wrangler spied in the wild

Spy shots have emerged that apparently show the 2018 Jeep Wrangler out in the wild. While covered in a loose tarpaulin disguise, you can still make out the basic shape and characteristics of the new Jeep, including the angled windshield.

The shot was taken last week at a Chrysler testing facility in Auburn Hills, Michigan by someone working for SpiedBilde. The vehicle is clearly a Jeep, very likely a Wrangler and possibly the 2018 Jeep Wrangler currently in development.

The front end still has the signature rounded hood and fender and Jeep grille. There is a hint of a rounded headlight in there too. The hood is slightly sloped and the raked windshield is a departure from previous Wrangler models. The flat roofline and straight edges are all typical of the Wrangler too. Just like the bulky wheel arches.

The 2018 Jeep Wrangler is thought to be introducing lighter aluminium body panels into the mix as well as other improvements. There are also rumours that there will be a diesel and hybrid option when the model is released. We have a while to wait yet but we shall keep our ear to the ground and let you know when we find out anything concrete!

2016 Jeep Wrangler
You either love or hate the 2016 Jeep Wrangler. Unstoppable off road, hugely tunable and configurable and a car for whom owners love with a rare passion. Few vehicles offer so many options for both factory and aftermarket parts and few vehicles have such a wide and varied fan base. I mean, what other four door SUV lets you take the roof off?

The 2016 Jeep Wrangler has looked largely the same for years. It’s an iconic look with the signature grille, round headlights and big front bumper. Those chunk wheel arches, big alloy wheels, often with off-road tyres are all a particular look and one that works exceptionally well.

Inside, the interior is basic but workable. It’s an off-roader so everything is tough, built to last and to be cleaned. It’s still more than serviceable though and higher tier models come with all the bells and whistles the modern driver looks for in a new car.

All 2016 Jeep Wrangler come with a 3.6-litre V6 engine that produces 285 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. Four wheel drive is standard on all models with either a five speed automatic or six speed manual transmission. High and low range gearing can be specified when ordering.

The 2016 Jeep Wrangler is a great off roader that is almost untouchable on the rough stuff. With more Mopar options than you could shake your wallet at, it’s the easiest car on the market to make truly your own.
