2018 Dodge Durango SRT

640 × 480
It was only last week when I got to drive the 2017 Dodge Durango. A little late I know but there are a lot of cars at Car Nation Canada. No sooner had I published my findings when Dodge release news of the 2018 Dodge Durango SRT.

The 2018 Dodge Durango SRT takes the standard Durango and pumps it up to 11. While it might look much the same with the rounded edges and muscular looks, underneath it’s a different beast. I liked how the original drives. It is composed, smooth, comfortable and stable given its size.

I also liked the engine. The V6 had enough power to get me places and to get to highway speeds quickly. This SRT version is all that and then some!

The front of the 2018 Dodge Durango SRT gets a bit of extra trim with a hood vent and wider air intakes at the front. It also features side trim, 20 inch wheels, big six pot Brembo brakes up front and four pot at the rear and a set of large exhausts.

Inside, the interior gets some stitched accents, a flat-bottomed steering wheel with paddle shifters, old school T-transmission shifter and unique interior trim.

Hemi V8
The 2018 Dodge Durango SRT has a 6.4-litre Hemi V8 engine that delivers 475 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque. It’s the 392, the same as Mopar '17 Dodge Challenger and the 392 Shaker it is built on. The motor is tried and tested and we know it works exceptionally well.

All that power is directed to all four wheels this time round through an eight speed automatic transmission. We expect the ride to be just as smooth and planted as its V6-engined cousin and just as nice to drive or ride in.

The SRT will get launch control, switchable driving modes and the ability to get from 0 to 60 in 4.4 seconds. Dodge calls it ‘America's fastest, most powerful and most capable three-row SUV’ and I think it will live up to the hype.

Dodge has yet to release pricing and more specifications but with production slated for this summer, it won’t be long until we learn more. In the meantime, Unique Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, 915 Walkers Line, Burlington has the current range of Durango models at some very low prices!
