The 2018 Chrysler 300S has been out a while now but I have only just been able to spend some time in one. Having seen the big Chrysler around the Car Nation Canada dealerships for the past couple of months, it had been on my mental 'to-drive' list since I first saw the preview before release. Thankfully, I was able to do just that yesterday.
The design of the 2018 Chrysler 300S is solid and reassuring. Gone is the mob look and here is the rounder, softer yet still robust design of the modern car. More rounded edges, a friendlier, more approachable design and a much classier profile brings this 300 into the modern age. It also brings it further into the purview of normal buyers. commuters, families and those for whom a sedan is still the way to go. If you buy this, you won't be sorry.
The 2018 Chrysler 300S is designed for one thing, to munch miles without your even noticing. The trick up its sleeve comes with the 'S'. The car is long, well-balanced and has a very good suspension configuration and chassis. While comfortable, the suspension does not cause the car to wallow when being progressive or when cornering. This gives confidence and multiplies the driving experience manyfold.
On the inside, comfort and style is still front and centre. The cabin is spacious, the seats comfortable and very adjustable and there is a lot of quality soft touch material throughout. Storage isn't a problem either with cubbies all over. The driving position is supported and ideal for long distances. If you commute or go on road trips, this is the car to do it in.
Under the hood
The 2018 Chrysler 300S uses the Pentastar V6 to provide power. The ultra-reliable 3.6-litre V6 provides 300 hp and 264 lb-ft of torque and sends it to the rear wheels through an eight speed automatic transmission. The only downside for Canadian buyers is that the 300S is RWD only. There is no AWD option for the S like there is on other models.
The driving experience is excellent. As mentioned, it is a mile muncher par excellence. It chews through a commute like it isn't there and makes long distances pass in a flash. Sit on the highway, engage cruise and sit back and relax. Steering input is responsive and visibility is superb, making it a very easy car to drive despite its size.
I like the 2018 Chrysler 300S. It is big but easy to manoeuvre and makes short work of any drive. Visit Unique Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, 915 Walkers Line, Burlington, ON L7N 3V8 to arrange a test drive and see if you feel the same.
