The 2017 Nissan Micra is a sweet little city car that shoots way above its size and weight. A Nissan global car, the Micra has been around for over twenty years, just not in Canada. Recently re-introduced to the country, the little Nissan is resonating well with our city customers.
The Micra is small but perfectly formed. It is a small hatchback with room enough for four. Given the small footprint, it is ideal for tight streets and urban parking which is why it is so popular in the city.

The design of this petite car is superb. It has sleek lines yet isn’t afraid to puff its shoulders out at the rear, giving it a very planted stance. The sloped roof, raked windshield and curved roof provide a continuous line from front to back that makes the profile flow nicely.
A small version of the Nissan V grill is front and centre with angled lights at either corner. A lower grille and fog lights will complete the look.
Despite its size, the interior has more space than you might think. There is easily enough room for four with a space in back for shopping. There is a lot of adjustment possible in front and the driving position isn’t as low down as you might think either. The cabin is full of features and those little touches that make it very competitive.
Engine and mechanicals
There is one engine available for the 2017 Nissan Micra. It is a smooth 1.6-litre four cylinder that delivers 109 hp and 107 lb-ft of torque to the front wheels. It utilizes either a five speed manual or four speed automatic transmission depending on the trim you choose.
The Micra also features the usual safety features such as ABS, airbags, traction control and seatbelt pre-tensioners. There is also the option for lane-departure prevention, autonomous braking with pedestrian detection and Nissan’s Around View Monitor.

The new 2017 Nissan Micra is a fantastic upgrade from older models. It looks and feels better, drives much more smoothly and that little engine is peppy and lively under your foot. The manual transmission gets the most out of the car’s performance and makes short work of city streets.
With room for all the family and a little space left over for shopping, it is ideal for grocery runs or the daily commute. With great gas mileage and decent safety options, it is a solid competitor for the best superminis on the market right now.
