2017 Lincoln MKZ gets Top Safety Pick+

640 × 480
One of our favourite luxury sedans, the 2017 Lincoln MKZ has been awarded Top Safety Pick+ by the U.S. Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. The midsize Lincoln sedan has seen a lot of improvements over the past five years and safety has been prime among them. This award recognizes all that hard work.

The 2017 Lincoln MKZ scored top marks in the small overlap, moderate overlap and side-impact crash tests as well as roof strength and head restraint tests. The new Lincoln  front crash prevention system also earned a superior rating which elevated the car to Top Safety Pick+.

Last year’s model only managed acceptable for the front overlap test and crash prevention achieved a mere ‘basic’ rating. This is why the Top Safety Pick+ is such good news.

2017 Lincoln MKZ
The 2017 Lincoln MKZ is a fully loaded luxury midsize sedan. It takes the fight directly to the established European and Japanese automakers in terms of comfort, luxury, reliability and brand cache. It manages to hold its own too which is testament to the hard work and creativity poured into the design and build.

The new exterior is much more modern with softer lines, a more rounded profile and all the right details in all the right places. It really is congruent with the design of the times, which is a new thing for Lincoln.

On the inside, the cabin has also seen some love. Still stuffed to the gills with technology but done in such a way that it all seems effortless. Integration is the order of the day and it shows. Materials are top quality, finishing is superb, passenger space is generous and the 2017 Lincoln MKZ is a nice car to be driven in or to drive.

Talking of drive, you have the option of three engines. The standard motor is a turbocharged 2.0-litre four cylinder that produces 245 hp and 275 lb-ft of torque. There is also a 3.0-lite turbo V6 that produces 350 hp (FWD) or 400 hp (AWD) and 400 lb-ft of torque. There is also a hybrid version with a 2.0-litre four cylinder and electric motor. It uses a CVT transmission while the gas engines use a six speed automatic.

Standard safety tech includes antilock disc brakes, stability and traction control, front side-impact airbags, front knee airbags, side curtain airbags, a rearview camera and rear parking sensors. Optional safety tech includes adaptive cruise control with pedestrian detection and automatic brake priming, lane departure warning and intervention, blind-spot monitoring system, rear cross-path warning and inflatable rear safety belts.

The 2017 Lincoln MKZ is a brand perfect for its moment in time. Visit Northway Ford Lincoln, 388 King George Road Brantford ON N3S 3N2 to arrange a test drive.
