2017 Lincoln Continental awarded IIHS Top Safety Pick+

640 × 480
The 2017 Lincoln Continental is a handsome sedan that will certainly cement the brand as a leader in luxury cars. It looks fantastic and drives very well indeed. I covered it in depth a couple of weeks ago after having some hands-on time with one. Having said at the end that if I was in the market for a luxury car, I would now definitely consider a Lincoln.

The good news continues with the news that the 2017 Lincoln Continental has been awarded Top Safety Pick+ by the U.S. Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.

The 2017 Lincoln Continental scored good or superior in tests for small overlap front crashes, moderate overlap front crashes, side impact crashes, roof strength and protection from head restraints. Crucially, it also scored ‘good’ in the new headlight ratings too.

2017 Lincoln Continental
The design of the 2017 Lincoln Continental is a real winner. It is a mature yet modern design with rounded edges, sculpted body panels and quite the aero design. Coupled with those original alloy wheels and nice balance front and rear, the sedan has a very nice profile.

Inside, the Continental is exactly as advanced and as comfortable as you would hope. Fine leather, nice stitching, quality trim and lots of little touches that make you feel at home. Comfortable seating and a configurable dashboard ensures driving the car is as refined as being driven in the car.

Under the hood is a twin turbo 3.0-litre V6 engine that delivers 400 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque. It is mated to a silky smooth six speed transmission to send power to the rear or all wheels. Alongside the finely tuned ride and suspension, the entire Continental experience is one you don’t forget in a hurry.

Some of the safety tech that helped with that Top Safety Pick+ rating includes Pre-Collision Assist with pedestrian detection safety, blind sport monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, lane keep assist, active park assist, 360-degree camera, head-up display and rain-sensing wipers. New LED headlights with high-beam assist feature which automatically switches between high and low beams where what secured the good rating in the new headlight tests.

So not only is the 2017 Lincoln Continental a very handsome looking car with the quality and integrity to deliver on its promises, it is also a safe car too. Get AWD to handle Canadian weather and you will have one of the safest luxury sedans around right now.
