2017 Jeep Compass earns Top Safety Pick

640 × 480
The 2017 Jeep Compass has earned Top Safety Pick from the U.S. Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. The redesigned SUV achieved top marks in all crash tests and achieved a superior rating in collision avoidance which is great news for Jeep owners.

The IIHS marked it highly in all five crash tests and superior in collision avoidance. It did fall down in the new headlight test though, which is the only reason it didn’t achieve Top Safety Pick Plus.

"When equipped with optional high-intensity discharge lights and high-beam assist, a feature that automatically switches between high beams and low beams depending on the presence of other vehicles, the Compass earns a marginal headlight rating," the IIHS said. "The SUV's base halogen headlights earn a poor rating."

2017 Jeep Compass
The 2017 Jeep Compass is an all-new model replacing the previous generation with a great looking crossover SUV. It looks more like a Grand Cherokee than ever and it is to the Compass’ benefit I think. With a new engine, transmission and drivetrain as well as new design, this is a great option for active people who don’t need a full size SUV.

The design has been softened somewhat since the previous version. While still similar in look and feel, the new Compass looks more modern and slightly friendlier. The interior has been spruced up too. The front seats look more solid and comfortable, the rear seats look to have more padding and the overall look and feel seems much improved.

There is only one engine for the new 2017 Jeep Compass and it’s the Tigershark. The 2.4-litre four cylinder engine produces 180 hp and 175 lb-ft of torque. A six speed manual or automatic is available for FWD models and a nine speed automatic is available for AWD models.

2017 Jeep Compass safety
The Compass was never rated highly as a safe car but this new model changes that. It has seven airbags and electronic stability control with roll mitigation as standard. There is also the option to add driver assist safety features like Forward Collision Warning-Plus, LaneSense Departure Warning-Plus, Blind-spot Monitoring with Rear Cross Path detection and a rearview camera.

It is these new features that has help it attain that Top Safety Pick rating.

The new 2017 Jeep Compass looks to have improved on the old 2017 Jeep Compass in all the right ways. Visit Unique Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, 915 Walkers Line, Burlington, ON  L7N 3V8 to learn more!
