You can’t go five minutes in an average sized town or city without seeing a Ford Transit. They are everywhere and are used by almost every type of business. With a huge variety of configurations, competitive pricing and car-like handling, it’s no wonder.
The 2017 Ford Transit Connect adds Ford SYNC3, automatic headlamps, reverse sensing, roof rails and a power driver’s seat. A couple of new colour options will also be available.
The Ford Transit Connect is the compact version of the ubiquitous van and has been with us for six years now. Ideal for smaller loads or smaller roads, the Connect resonated well the moment it was released. It still sells strongly all these years later and for very good reason.
The 2017 Ford Transit Connect is available as a passenger wagon or cargo van. There are two body lengths, several trims and several hundred specific configurations. The long version has 128.6 cubic feet of cargo space while the shorter version has 103.9. The wagon version can seat up to seven in comfort.
Engines and drivetrain
Driving the 2017 Ford Transit Connect is one of two four cylinder engines. A 2.5-litre that provides 169 hp and 171 lb-ft of torque or a 1.6-litre EcoBoost engine that delivers 178 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque. Both use a six speed automatic transmission.
To help keep the Transit on the road is a series of safety tech that can include electronic stability control, roll prevention, emergency brake assist and a set of front, side and curtain airbags. All combine to earn the Connect a five star safety rating from the U.S. NHTSA.
There is good reason why the Ford Transit Connect is such a common sight. It is a well-made van that delivers practical space, decent performance and a good level of comfort. It is very easy to drive too. If you can handle a family sedan, you can easily handle a Connect. It has carlike characteristics that belies its van shape and intent and that makes it a winner.
The 2017 Ford Transit Connect is available in two lengths, the XL and XLT. The XL is the shorter of the two and the XLT is the longer version. The wagon version is also available in these lengths.
As you would expect, the various configurations run into pages and pages. Trims offer everything from alloy wheels to leather interior, SYNC 3 to a glass roof and pretty much anything you could ever need in-between. Custom options are also available if you need them.
