2017 Ford Fusion wins five star safety rating from NHTSA

Last week, we posted that the 2017 Ford Fusion won Top Safety Pick+ from the U.S. Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). Hot on the heels of that is a five star safety rating for the Ford from the other U.S. agency, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

The standard version in both front wheel and AWD was tested and won four stars in the front crash test, five stars in the side crash test and four stars in the rollover crash test.

As mentioned before, safety is at the top of the Fusion’s agenda with a strengthened front end, active braking, pedestrian detection and auto parking. Standard is electronic stability control, antilock brakes, a rearview camera and eight airbags around the cabin.

Optional safety tech can include rear inflatable seatbelts, pre-collision assist with pedestrian detection, a blind-spot information system, lane-keeping assist and adaptive cruise control with forward-collision warning.

2017 Ford Fusion
I like the 2017 Ford Fusion. It takes the typical commuter or rental car and makes it interesting. There are millions of Fusions on our roads, many owned by companies and rental agencies. That doesn’t mean they have to be boring and the 2017 Ford Fusion proves that.

The design is simple and elegant. It uses the Ford shark nose grille, angled lights and hood design and makes it look cool. Every body panel has a point of interest that makes it great on its own and even better as a whole. A planted stance, long body shape and sleek profile make for a very good looking car.

On the inside, the typical Ford quality and variety are very much in evidence. You can specify a huge range of finishes, colours and technologies to make your Fusion really stand out. Even the base model is comfortable, well equipped and quiet. All things we expect from a sedan we will likely spend a lot of time in.

There are five engine options available, a 2.5-litre that produces 175 hp and 175 lb-ft of torque, a 1.5-litre turbo four that produces 181 hp and 185 lb-ft of torque, a 2.0-litre turbo four that produces 240 hp and 270 lb-ft of torque and a 2.7-litre V6 in the V6 Sport that produces 325 hp and 350 lb-ft of torque. All use a six speed transmission to send power to the front wheels.

The 2017 Ford Fusion is one of the safest cars in its class, visit Northway Ford Lincoln, 388 King George Road Brantford ON N3S 3N2 to arrange a test drive. Save time at the dealership! Fill out the finance pre-approval form here.
